Welcome to The Grey Pearl, a wonderful historic Ocracoke cottage that is conveniently located in the heart of the village. Pearl offers a spacious open floor concept featuring connected Kitchen, Dining and living spaces- and a lovely screeded porch. It is located within walking distance to Silver Lake, Coffee/Juice spots, Restaurants and shops ! We are pet friendly with a 90% fenced in yard space. Some pet amenities provided. We try to post helpful information about the island, things to do, or helpful hints to make your stay amazing! - Features: * Lovely, extended driveway to allow for maximum privacy. When you enter you will see the main house to the right and an apartment and "apartment" to your left. (In 2025 we will be opening up the shop apartment as additional rental if you have a larger party. It will have an additional capacity of 4. *Living Room: New (made in North Carolina) furniture such as the pull out sofa (Queen) with lovely new crisp cotton sheets. You will be able to enjoy Netflix on the new Roku TV, but, as always, why watch TV when you can be out enjoying Ocracoke and our famous beaches!! *Bedrooms: Double room to the left as you enter the hallway. The ceiling fan and mini-split heat pump will ensure that you or your guest sleep well at their own temperature. If you enjoy morning sunlight (we have blinds of course) this is your room !! Queen: The bedroom to the right, the Master, features a new Beauty Rest Queen bed, with cooling mattress cover. Also noted in the room for your sleeping comfort is a ceiling fan and your own mini-split heat pump as well. This room is located more under the mature trees, so if you are a late sleeper, this is your room of choice !! The center hall bathroom has just experienced a "from the sand up" renovation, all the while saving as much of the original structure as we could. We know that you will love the original Bead Board ceilings and new Ship Lap walls !! What are our 2 favorite features in the bathroom??? The deep Cast Iron soaking tub and the electric wall heater !! We know this will give you hours of enjoyment as you rest after a busy day exploring the wild beaches of Ocracoke !! *Screened in Porch: The wide expanse of the porch is perfect for early morning coffee and late night chats with those you have allowed to come with you on this adventure. What makes this more perfect?? Plug in the overhead twinkle lights for the perfect evening setting. If the weather is agreeable, naps and overnight sleeps are perfect on the porch sofa (my personal favorite). *Outdoor shower --- After enjoying an outdoor shower you will have a hard time going inside to shower. With overhead coverage in case of rain or chilly weather, the 3/4 door gives your most modest guest to enjoy the experience. *One thing to be mindful of with the pipes in this historic home, someone might get chilly if both showers and dish washer are running at the same time. *Expansive Yard: All our yard space are yours to enjoy ! The fenced in yard is perfect for any gathering, including your pet. We do ask that all pet waste is removed from the yard as no one wants to put a toe into anything left behind! Can you see yourself in our home? We can, as long as you promise to be neat, tidy and respectful of a place that is so dear to us ! **We are open to extended stays from October to April, so just reach out and let's chat !! Guest access Our space is one of the most secluded and largest lots in the village due to the privacy fences. There are 2 very large side yards that are completely yours to enjoy. Also located on the property is an apartment and shop on one side of the property. The apartment is currently being renovated as an "extender" offering for guests who may have larger parties. Other things to note The Grey Pearl is our families 2nd home and not an investment rental. We love Pearl and hope that you will as well. Everything in the home is personal, especially the antique furniture from England. We hope you will love and respect the space as much as we do. This home has stood for many, many years on the island. With that being said, there are a few quirks to the space, such as the water lines, exciting cisterns (you see in the yard), and the septic system. It is imperative that you ONLY flush proper amounts of toilet paper down the system. It is also important to note that since we do not employe a property management company, which saves you money, we are not always able to come to the property in person. We do have a handy man on the island and can be reached 24/7 in case of extreme emergency.
