Description
Cabo San Pedro has been in my family since 1964, and in recent years has been a very cozy vacation home. As the highest house on Pedro Point, we are graced with stunningly gorgeous panoramic views (no iPhone required). Perfect for a couple’s weekend, a business trip, a solo retreat! For those who can’t bear to leave this special place, a fully equipped kitchen lets you comfortably eat in. Please note that your total cost includes $100 for the cleaning fee which goes entirely to our housekeeper. The space Cabo San Pedro home is a cozy and beautiful retreat famous worldwide for amazing views and a relaxing atmosphere. From either the spacious deck, or comfortably nestled inside, you'll be looking out over 50 miles of the San Francisco coastline. All of these photos were taken from inside the home or from the deck. The views are even better in person! This penthouse home is intended for one or two people, but at times we have hosted families with a couple of small kids, or even four adults who are happy with close quarters. There is one king sized bed, plus extra linens for one person to sleep on the couch (not a fold out) and one person to sleep on the triple-fold futon floor mattress. The penthouse unit is the top floor of our three story house, the floor below is a 1 bedroom unit that very likely will also be rented during your stay. Both the penthouse and the 1 bedroom below are fully self-contained and private. Our home is the highest on the San Pedro Terrace hill in Pacifica and has the most spectacular views in the area, there are however quite a few stairs to climb to reach the space. There is an electronic tram to carry guests and their luggage/groceries up the hill, as well as benches built into the staircase along the way for those who choose to take the stairs. Those with mobility issues may not find our place suitable, as there are 8-12 stairs at the top and bottom of the hill that cannot be avoided. 2 minutes to the beach-grocery stores-restaurants-gas-bank-drugstore-pubs-coffee-etc. 15 minutes to SFO Int’l airport & downtown San Francisco 25 minutes to Silicon V-Berkeley-Sausalito, easy to Napa. Electric tram for luggage Our Cabo San Pedro home has the most spectacular San Francisco views along San Francisco-the Coastline-Beaches-Mountains-Coastal Hills-Trans Pacific Ocean Shipping-Boating-Surfing-Whale Watching-Swarming Schools of Fish-Airliners-Pelicans-Seagulls-Geese-Hawks-Robins-Humming Birds-Cormorants-Swallows-Kingfishers-Sparrows-Blackbirds and even Holiday Annual San Francisco Fireworks seen from Cabo San Pedro Night Views . Our large view deck and glass front and large side windows offer unrivaled dazzling vast views that all of the Cabo San Pedro Bay and Gulf of the Farallones and the coast and beaches of San Francisco have to offer. From tranquil Summer seas to raging Winter storms with massive waves crashing on the Headlands, Coves, and Cabos, there are few places in the world that compare to Cabo San Pedro. The allure of our retreat home make many people not want to leave during their stay due to the seasonal cool sea breezes and fresh airs, as well as the warm coziness of this "Snuggle Harbor" in a winter storm. For so many, the visual command-scape of the natural environment enthuses creative thought and vivid retrospect for future planning and completion of dreams, ventures, and accomplishments. You won't need a "thinking cap" here...this home IS one. This Electric TRAM actually built this entire very private home well up above the street and has continued to serve faithfully the needs of the residents for almost 30 years. The stairs are very many and may be an issue for some guests and should be discussed with the manager before committing to renting. The owner is in his 70's (as have been other residents) and they have had no problem going up and down the stairs several times a day. Feel welcome to contact us about this. And yes a people Tram is in the works. Young and middle aged people seemed to stroll up and down like enjoying a "cakewalk". Entering the home and seeing the VIEWS erases any thoughts of the stairs. There are Stair lights, floods, and lanterns that light up the entire stairway and all landings and the light switches are located at the bottom of the stair entrance at the garage and as well in the unit that you will be staying in. The heater is very fast and efficient. PARKING: We have driveway parking in front of the detached garage at the street. 1 space is dedicated to this Penthouse. It is possible more than 1 space can be available by arrangement. There can be as many as 3 parking spaces (with marked parking stalls); otherwise across the street to the left are 5 empty building lots and almost always parking is available there or even further along our road. Located in the Laundry Alcove in the back of the house adjacent to the upper Tram stop. You can carry your laundry there out the main entry door or via the internal stairs down to the 2 doors that go out to this alcove. Free detergent should be available. There are a few of us who are available to assist by telephone. One is a Native San Franciscan and on/off Resident of Pacifica, forever. Always feel welcome to call after 10:00am in the morning, and before 8pm in the evening San Francisco Time Zone. Cabo San Pedro, the original Spanish name for Pedro Point, was orginally a quaint fishing village, and still maintains this rustic charm, though is now wildly popular with surfers and is resplendent with new modern California homes. The adjacent Linda Mar (Spanish for Beautiful Sea) Valley was all artichokes and Brussels' sprouts farms back in WWII, and is now a "bedroom community" for San Francisco. A must see at the bottom of the hill are the over 100 year old fishing docks and ramps for the classic dories still in use today by fishermen and divers (think Dungeness Crab, salmon, striped bass, abalone, rock cod of many species, sea urchin, anchovies, albacore tuna, clams and mussels). And then there is surfing, body surfing, skim-boarding, kite surfing, sail surfing, SUP or Stand Up Paddle surfing along with contests for all ages of men and women. Hiking is the back yard of Pedro Point, especially popular along the now closed former Hwy #1 section known as Devil's Slide. Right here at the beach below us is where Spanish Explorer Gaspar de Portola discovered the San Francisco Bay after missing the Monterey Bay. Portola anchored right off our beach and hiked up to the ridge above and discovered one of the world's most important bays and brought about the founding our Great City of the World, San Francisco, originally called Yerba Buena, and her outlying cities and counties and landmarks such as our Cabo San Pedro (Pedro Point) and our Gulf of the Farallones (Spanish for "cliffs") with offshore rocky islands of same name. And Discovery is still going on in terms of Technology, Science, and Health in San Francisco's nearby brother and sister areas. And you are in store for Discovery of more restaurants and things to do than you could imagine...starting with the VIEWS from our House. If you do not have your own car, Rental Cars from the SFO Airport give you the easiest way to get-around , especially for grocery shopping nearby. If you would prefer not to drive, taxis/ride services, and SamTrans (San Mateo Transit) busses and BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) will get you anywhere to or from here. Walking the Pedro Point neighbourhood is a quiet and pleasant walk 24/7 with views. Walks on our long wide sandy beach or headlands are energizing and healthy. We are fortunate to only be a few minutes to lots of restaurants, big grocery stores (Safeway Store), coffee shops, Ace Hardware, surf shop, Ross Store, 3 banks (the Wells Fargo Bank is in the Safeway Store open until 7 pm daily but earlier on the weekends), and gas stations. While we are only 15 minutes to SFO Airport and same to Downtown SF; Napa Valley is further north; and Princeton by the Sea (10 mins), Half Moon Bay (15 mins), and Santa Cruz (1 hour) are all to the South on Hwy #1 right at the bottom of the hill. And Silicon Valley is about 25 to 35 minutes via Hwy's #280 and #101 by the SFO airport. Guest access This is a self-contained private unit. The penthouse shares access to the laundry area on the back porch with the guests staying in the 1 bedroom unit that occupies the floor below. It is accessed from the exterior stairs, so no one ever has to be in anyone's private space. Other things to note Anyone with mobility issues should note that there is no way up without going up some stairs. There are about 12 stairs at the street level to get you to the landing for the tram that will take you up to the house, and then another flight of stairs to get you up to the level of the penthouse.
