Description
Welcome to The Bakehouse. A light-filled, cottage tucked away in our garden, right in the heart of historic Coggeshall. Once a working bakehouse, this one-bedroom retreat blends the character of the old with the ease of the new. Whether you're here for a quiet solo stay, a romantic weekend, or travelling to visit family, there's space to slow down & settle in. Step outside & you’re moments from historic sites, leafy green spaces & charming shops, each with stories woven through the centuries. The space You'll find the Bakehouse tucked behind our house, off one of the main streets in Coggeshall. Come through our garden gate and you'll recognise the Bakehouse immediately with its Powder Pink doors and shutters. On arrival, step into a small entrance hall with space for coats, plus a downstairs loo and sink. From there, you enter the spacious, light-filled kitchen-diner. With dual-aspect windows and a table that comfortably seats eight (six chairs provided, more available on request), it’s perfect for slow meals and lively catch-ups. The kitchen is well-equipped with quality cookware and sharp knives to make cooking feel just like home. You’ll also find a utility cupboard with a washing machine and microwave. Need anything else? We're next door and happy to help. Upstairs opens into a bright, calming living space with a sofa bed, two easy chairs and side tables – ideal for curling up with a book or relaxing with a drink. There are bluetooth sound systems in both the kitchen and living room, a desk for work tasks, and fast, private wifi. The smart TV is ready for your streaming accounts, and the trunk stores spare bedding for sofa bed use. The bedroom features a luxurious extra-length super king bed, which can also be arranged as twins (let us know on booking if you prefer the twin setup). There's an en-suite shower room, generous wardrobe and chest of drawers, bedside tables with storage, a full-length mirror, and soft uplighting throughout – creating a warm, tranquil atmosphere. If you're travelling with family or extra guests, there's a single pull-out bed and the sofa bed (a small double with topper for added comfort). Travel cots and stair gates are available on request. Let us know your children's ages, and we’ll happily prepare a small basket of age-appropriate toys, books and games to make their stay feel special. Outside, through the beech arch, you’ll find a quiet garden spot just for you, with a table and chairs surrounded by bay and rosemary, and maybe even a few veggies in the veg patch. Please feel free to help yourself to herbs for your meals. Guest access Our driveway is available for you to use on arrival to unload and before you leave to pack up your car.
