Pack your flip-flops and head to Central VA! You’ll feel like you are always on vacation in this renovated cottage with a private pool and hot tub! THE POOL IS OPEN FOR THE 2024 SEASON! Centrally located in LYH (15 min to LU & 1 block to University of LYH), the elevated style of this lovely home is perfect for a girls’ weekend but practical enough for a family vacation! The 1940’s cottage-meets-Key West vibe has been renovated by the owners and professionally decorated. The space Each room is tastefully decorated in vibrant Key West style with the guest in mind! Please note that many of the property’s older features remain to add character to the cottage. PLEASE READ the entire listing as you will be AGREEING to the pool and hot tub rules when you book the property. Here’s what you can find in each room. Living Room: This room is truly a place to relax with comfortable seating and a leather sofa that pulls out into a queen sleeper. Enjoy the Roku TV (bring your password) or grab a book to enjoy in a sunny spot by the window. Dining Room: Adjacent to the living room, the dining room features the amazing display of Key West color, beautiful dining table and coffee bar. You will want to linger after meals or enjoy family game nights at the table. The beautiful coffee and tea bar is stocked with a selection of K-cups, ground coffee and teas. Paper products are housed in the coffee bar for your use. Kitchen: The dining room opens into the kitchen with an open-shelving concept. The pristine quartz countertop and the ‘Caribbean’ blue backsplash set the tone for festive meals made in the kitchen! You will enjoy stainless steel appliances and a pantry stocked with additional cooking necessities. Please note there is not a sink disposal in the kitchen. Laundry Room: The stackable washer and dryer and side entry door are off of the kitchen. This entrance has plenty of space for hanging items. Please note that one of the two steps to this entrance is a taller-than average step. Please use caution when entering and exiting. Hall: There are hooks in the hall for hanging pool towels and a guest closet full of additional amenities such as extra bedding, pool towels, board games and an organizer of ‘extra’ items. Hall Bath: This full bath includes a blue and white color theme and a new shower with subway tile. Note that the tub is a reglazed original. Our guests will enjoy the shower dispenser with the amazing Paya products. The Cabana Bedroom: This colorful room has a queen bed, Roku TV, closet and a view of the pool. Rattan blinds and black-out curtains let you choose how you want to face the day! The Den: The den has a loveseat with twin sleeper, two leather chairs and the best view of the pool! The sliding glass doors provide entry to the private pool area. Pool towels are furnished! This room also has black-out curtains. The Palms Bedroom: The master bedroom is off of the den and is decorated with serenity in mind. Enjoy lounging in bed or watching the Roku TV. A remote-controlled ceiling fan, rattan blinds and black-out curtains enable you to get your temperature just right! Please note: the hot tub motor can be heard from this bedroom. While some say it puts them to sleep, you do have the option to turn the hot tub off at night if you choose. Directions are at the house. Master Bath: This en-suite is off of the master bedroom and is decorated in lively wallpaper. The new shower has subway tile with Paya dispenser and products. Plenty of towels and bathroom amenities will make your stay comfortable. The Pool: The POOL! The pool depth is approximately nine feet and will offer countless hours of enjoyment! It is not heated so it is usually open from May - September. Enjoy basking in the sun or being shaded by the umbrella as you relax on the lounge chairs. Other outside amenities include a picnic table, gas fire pit with Adirondack chairs, gas grill and corn hole boards. The Hot Tub! A new hot tub was installed in September 2023 on the new covered deck - so winters in LYH will be warm and cozy! There is spacious sectional seating and ceiling fans under the roof as well - making this outdoor space a place to linger! ! Pool Rules: When you book this property, you are agreeing to the following pool and hot tub rules: * Swim/soak at your own risk. * No diving into the pool. * No glass of any kind is allowed in the pool/hot tub area. Plastic dinnerware and paper products are provided for use in the pool area. * Pool floats and toys are not provided by the host but can be brought by the guest. * The guest assumes all liability for any accidents occurring in the pool/hot tub area and holds the host harmless of any incidents. * Guests abide by the pool and hot tub rules in the guest manual and posted at the hot tub. Guest access The Key West Cottage is easily accessible from all points in Lynchburg. It is located on a corner lot, so parking is available in the front and side of the house. The side entrance (on Macon St) is closer to the door and where most guests park. Please park on ‘our’ side of the street near the lamppost and sidewalk. There is a key pad on the front and side door and pool gate. You will be given a 4-digit code for entry prior to arriving. You will have the entire home, pool and hot tub to yourself! Other things to note Please note that while this house has been remodeled, it is still an 80 year old, imperfect house that has been renovated by imperfect people! You will find that ‘old’ and ‘new’ pair well together to offer the idyllic Key West charm. While the water is hot, the pressure is not! We’re making the best of this until a new plumbing system can be installed. This is family-friendly space with no tolerance for parties.
