Description
Eureka sits in the Diamond Mountains on the Loneliest Road in America (HWY 50). This historic town traces its mining roots to 1864. The Stone Church Lodge was built with native stone and operated as a church from 1881 to 1900. Eureka is on the National Register of Historic Places and our building is part of the Historical American Buildings Survey! In the 1980s, a master woodcraftsman created living quarters with beautiful woodwork including stairs, cabinetry and ornamental embellishments. The space The main doors of this unique space open to a landing under a dramatic stone arch. Stairs from the arch lead up to the main living area which includes a sitting area, kitchen, coffee nook, bedroom, and bathroom. The upstairs space is open (studio style), and the bathroom walls do not go all the way to the high vaulted ceiling, as shown in the photos, giving the space an airy feeling. Other stairs lead down to another seating area with a television, twin-size day bed, and a chaise lounge chair. The entire eastern wall of the apartment is the original native stone. The skylight in the upstairs sitting area provides significant natural lighting for reading and planning your Eureka adventures! Guest access Our town has a Walking Tour Map to guide you through our historical town. It is best to drive to Raine's Market, our grocery store, a few miles down Highway 50. Free parking is available throughout the town.
