Featuring beautiful woodwork from it's original function as a railroad granary, this uniquely renovated house is a special place to connect with each other, mother nature, and the amazing abundance of nearby restaurants, wineries, breweries, parks, and trails that the Fingerlakes area has to offer. With plant-filled pots and gardens, a spacious yard with firepit, organic linens, and a well equipped kitchen, the Wild Mulberry House is ready to be your relaxing home base between adventures! Managed by a veggie/flower farming couple born and raised in Lodi, plants and fresh, local food are a key part of what the Wild Mulberry House has to offer your group for their stay in the Finger Lakes! Whether you are traveling here for a wedding on Seneca or Cayuga Lake, a multi-generational family vacation, or a week of adventure with a close group of friends, our house has a wide variety of spaces for connecting with each other and with nature. It is also ideally located to offer you the privacy and quiet you need for rest and relaxation in a small neighborhood overlooking vineyards and Seneca Lake, but is remarkably close to some of the best restaurants, wineries, breweries, parks and trails in our area. A covered deck on the west side of the house offers ample space for dining together outside, and the smaller east porch and north end deck have seating for you to enjoy a cup of coffee and a book or a chat with a loved one. The spacious yard includes a firepit with dry wood and seating, and we invite you to harvest herbs for your cooking from the pots on the porches and deck! The first floor has an open floor plan arranged around beautiful original beams and large windows. This floor includes a small but mighty, well-equipped kitchen, (which includes french press coffee making supplies), large dining table with side buffet for extra prep and serving space, a cozy living room area, a half bath, and well lit yoga corner. On the second floor there is a full bathroom with a tub/shower, and a bedroom with a queen bed, basic office area, and space for clothes storage. Go through the sliding door into the North Wing, which has a couch and coffee table for lounging, a small table and chairs, a large desk in an office area, a bathroom with walk-in shower, a king size bed with a walk-in closet and dresser. This part of the house boasts high ceilings, beautiful woodwork, and has it's own entrance from the north deck. We have an extra twin bed that we could set up in this space if desired. Back to the south part of the house, then up to the third floor, which has an open bedroom with a twin bed, a TV area with a trundle bed, and a small bedroom with a full size bed and spacious closet. There is also a bathroom with a shower on this floor (not yet pictured), and a laundry room (not yet pictured). There is a locked door on the third floor which we will leave the key for, this leads up a small spiral staircase to a small room that opens to an outdoor lookout with amazing views of Seneca Lake. This space is yours for your stay! Guests will be able to access all parts of the house and yard except for the 3 garage bays ( we currently use these for storage and workspace). The door to the lookout on the fourth floor will be locked but we will leave a key with you to access it when you like. Snip herbs from the pots on the porches and harvest vegetables from the garden for your cooking, cut your own flowers from the flower patch, it's all here for you to enjoy! This wonderful neighborhood is made up of working families, a few small businesses, Jacob's family vegetable farm, and vineyards. It is just off route 414, the main thoroughfare for the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, very close to many of our area's best restaurants, wineries, breweries, as well as great spots to go for a hike or swim. Take a walk down the main neighborhood road to the fantastic Silverthread Winery for a tasting or vineyard tour, taking in gorgeous views of vineyards and Seneca Lake. Bop up to Johnny's Kitchen for a take-out lunch and bring it to Lodi Point Marine State Park for a picnic and swim! Plan a woodsy hike in the nearby Fingerlakes National Forest, a waterfall hike at Taughannock Falls State Park, a gorgeside meander at Watkins Glen State Park, or go taste some hearty beers at Wagners, Lucky Hare, and Two Goats. This neighborhood provides an excellent, quiet home base to rejuvenate between adventures of all kinds! There is a private parking area for 4-5 vehicles at the house. While you can walk to a few things nearby (Silverthread Winery, Dano's Hueriger restaurant, Wagners Cafe Winery and Brewery) getting around by car or bike opens up many many other options. Our gardens are organically managed, we offer the option to set aside food waste for compost in our kitchen, our sheets and pillowcases are made of organic cotton, and our towels are made with organic cotton and hemp. We have furnished the house with a mix of used/vintage finds, supplemented with new furniture where needed (beds!). If you are interested in purchasing a box of mixed seasonal organic veggies from Jacob's farm to cook with, or in taking a tour of the farm during your stay, please let us know by e-mail and we can send you more info. We welcome you!
