This 2-bedroom apartment is close enough to enjoy the nightlife of Athens and OU but near Dow Lake and Strouds Run SP, making it the perfect getaway for a long weekend or family vacation. The quiet retreat sleeps up to 7 and is perfect for families and friend groups. Enjoy a hike, swim or bike ride by day, plan dinner in Athens, and return to your apartment at night. Take a day trip to the Hocking Hills or Lake Hope, explore Wayne NF, see an OU game, and end your day with stargazing. The space The 14-acre property is very quiet, and was a goat farm (Bish Farms) for several decades before coming under new ownership in 2020. Though we no longer have goats, some remnants of the farm still remain and we've been working to repurpose or re-use what we can. You might see us working around the property during your visit. The back of the property is densely wooded and bordered by a creek. The apartment building was once a barn for goats, and then storage, but interior renovations to this downstairs apartment were completed in 2021. It has all the amenities necessary for a relaxing stay in a former barn - HVAC, tankless hot water heater, auxiliary heat source in the living area, a dishwasher and a fully stocked kitchen. Also, it's very quiet. We added a spacious living area that flows into a fully stocked kitchen which is ideal for family meals or snacks after a day of exploring. Unwind on the patio, where you can often spot a family of deer wandering by. The master bedroom features a plush king-sized bed, and the second bedroom boasts a twin-over-full bunk bed. You'll find an array of toys, books, childproof outlets, and a travel crib to accommodate little ones. Your privacy is respected while we reside in the blue farmhouse at the end of your driveway, though you might see us working on projects around the property. We enjoy hosting and meeting our guests, but we'll leave you alone unless you want to say hello. Feel free to explore the grounds, stroll up and down the driveway, or hike to the Scatter Ridge connector trail, which leads to Stroud’s Run State Park and the playgrounds, beach, boat launch, and trail system. Please refrain from wandering into our private woods, as construction on the trail is incomplete at the moment. Enjoy your stay! Guest access Guests will have complete access to their downstairs apartment. There may be a tenant upstairs, so the upstairs deck is off-limits. We kindly ask that you request permission before heading upstairs on your own. Feel free to explore the grounds, stroll up and down the driveway, or hike to the Scatter Ridge connector trail, which leads to Stroud’s Run State Park and the playgrounds, beach, boat launch, and trail system.
