Escape to a Stunning 1884 Country Retreat. Nestled on 4 scenic acres, this historic property features 2 homes, including your private, fully remodeled 2-story Cottage. With 1,300 sq. ft. of charm, it boasts antiques, a gourmet kitchen, and your own hot tub for ultimate relaxation. Enjoy serene views, just 2 miles from Cottage Grove and 15 minutes from Eugene (UofO). Nearby, explore lakes, wineries, or venture to the ocean or mountains, it’s the perfect getaway for rest or adventure. The space This two-story “Cottage” is the original carriage house of a circa-1884 homestead estate set on over 4 picturesque acres. Nestled in a serene country setting, it offers easy access to I-5. Completely renovated with modern amenities, the cottage features air conditioning throughout and luxurious heated marble bathroom floors. The well-stocked gourmet kitchen, designed by a nationally acclaimed and published designer, boasts Quartz countertops and thoughtful details. Next door, the stately main home with its brick facade and circular driveway adds to the charm. Surrounded by over 200 rose bushes, a pond with a windmill, and breathtaking views of an 800-acre ranch across the street, this property is truly one-of-a-kind. Guest access Step into a countryside escape where elegance meets tranquility. Your stay begins with a charming courtyard and an expansive back patio, perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. Follow the rose-lined path to your private oasis, complete with a hot tub for starlit soaks, a propane BBQ for alfresco dining, and a fire pit to warm up your evenings. Whether you’re sipping coffee at the patio table, lounging under the umbrella, or soaking in the quiet serenity, this space promises to make every moment unforgettable. Pond: Quail Pond lies at the edge of the property and offers breathtaking views, particularly at sunset. Ducks, geese, herons, and even otters often make appearances, creating a picturesque scene. While the pond is not suitable for swimming due to grasses, mud, and fish hooks, the small peninsula provides a lovely vantage point. Please avoid the neighbor’s side of the pond, including their aluminum boat, which is not for guest use. Hot Tub: Your private hot tub is set near the courtyard, offering a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring. Let us know in advance if you’d like it pre-warmed for your arrival. Please close the lid after use and avoid adding any chemicals, oils, or soaps to ensure it stays pristine. Gardens: The vegetable garden along the driveway is a delightful feature of the estate. Depending on the season, you may find an abundance of fresh vegetables available to pick for immediate use. During the winter months, the garden rests, preparing for the next growing season. Greenhouse: The greenhouse, with its elegant architecture and striking design, is a highlight of the property. While it is not currently housing plants, it remains a seasonal feature that adds to the estate’s charm. Please admire it from the outside to help preserve its condition for future use. Laundry Room: Located off the kitchen, the laundry room is stocked with essentials for your convenience. While unheated, it offers everything you need for light laundry during your stay. Horse Field: The electrified horse field to the east adds to the charm of the property, but for your safety, we kindly ask that you refrain from entering this area. Parking: Parking is convienent, with space for two vehicles or one vehicle and a boat. If you require additional space for an RV or larger vehicle, just let us know, and we’ll accommodate your needs. Pool: The estate features a beautiful in-ground pool, but it is reserved exclusively for the main house. Fenced for privacy, this area is not accessible to cottage guests. Please ensure children are supervised and kept away from the pool area for safety. Other things to note Animals on the property : The main property has an resident outdoor cat, so please be careful to not leave doors open or he “Charlie” will sneak inside and hide from you because he knows he’s not allowed indoors. If this happens and you can’t find him, let us know so we can come and get him out. This rarely happens but has when I failed to let guest know about keeping the door closed. The neighbors have dogs that have never had to be locked up, leashed and can roam freely (they have 40 acres so these are farm dogs) I have been greeted by them many times while at the pond and they occasionally come up to the side yard. The dogs are generally nice but if you are afraid of dogs I wouldn’t take a chance and go down to the pond. Overhead noise: One of the neighbors is a firefighting/ logger helicopter pilot. Occasionally ( a few times a year) he will fly over the house next door, on his way somewhere with this huge helicopter. Although we think it’s super great, it could be alarming if you didn’t realize what was happening. He sometimes lands the helicopters but most the time he does a few circles over his house and his family runs out and greets him. But the hovering sounds make you think “they looking for someone or something is going down” which is not the case. Heating and Air: the house has a full air conditioned , heated environment set by a thermostat in the living room left of the couch on the wall. With that said, two things. Please set it to a reasonable setting that you like and if you prefer outside fresh air, choose one or the other not both (ie: the a/c on and windows open). I have found the a/c turned way down and all the windows wide open as guest leave for the day. This is not very good. Wastes energy, and much higher electrical bill and wears out my heat pump much quicker. I’m all about using it and being super pampered while on vacation so feel free to freeze if you wish on hot summer days. We also have installed heated floors in the upstairs marble floor bathroom. We have that set so that it is warm to the touch and feels great even on hot summer days. Freeway: Although a great feature to our location is that we are conveniently close to a freeway on-ramp , it is noteworthy to inform you were only a 1/2 mile from the I5 freeway. Occasionally if your outside you can hear a trucker or someone honk on the freeway or the rush hour is a tiny bit louder. We do not think this is anything to worry about. The fact that you can be in Eugene in 20 minutes is great! UofO in 25, airport in 45. Smoking & vaping ; I know this is a sensitive subject for smokers. But this house has never been smoked in. I can smell it , so can the next guest, and we prohibit it anywhere near the entrance of the home. So, for those sensitive to it, they can not have even a hint of it. So my compromise is to allow smoking outside only. We have an ashtray outside by the patio seating and or fire pit. Please only smoke in these designated areas. And, please take a few minutes before returning to the home as it takes a little while to get the smoke out. We have completely 100% renovated this home and it is full of very nice furnishings. Down to the studs with all new plumbing electrical heating, floors and cabinets. Please take care of things as if you owned it, not like a hotel where a big corporation makes plenty of profit and doesn’t mind changing everything out over and over. This historic home is an original stage stop homestead and we take pride in keeping it preserved.
