Description
The Fenton (room #3) is on the second floor of the historic ca. 1830 Holladay House in downtown Orange. Guests in the Fenton enjoy: * Living in the 1910 portion of the house * An en suite full bathroom that is an amazing use of a small space * Use of the recently redecorated parlor, study, and dining room areas * Free off-street parking * Walking distance to antique stores, indy book store, great restaurants; short drive to Montpelier, Monticello, wineries, wedding venues, and Shenandoah NP! The space Staying at the Holladay House is taking a step into American history. One previous owner was a grand-nephew of President James Madison, and his daughter's wedding reception in the house counted J.E.B. Stuart among its guests. The Fenton is on back side of the house, with a view of the enormous evergreen magnolia tree in the back yard. There are five other guest bedrooms in the Holladay House: three others on the second floor and two on the walk-out basement floor. Your hosts live in a suite on the first floor, where also are found the common-area parlor, study, and dining room. Guest access Guests staying in the Fenton are welcome to use the first floor study, parlor, and dining room. During the day, walk-in visitors to the Holladay House may enjoy tea and coffee on the first floor; overnight guests have private use of the first floor when the first floor closes to the public at night. Overnight guests have access to a balcony and a porch that overlook the gardens in the back. Guests are welcome - and encouraged - to wander the gardens. During your stay We live in the house and are normally in/near Orange during guest stays. To find us, call/message, holler', or, god forbid there is an emergency, knock on our door in the 1F hall labeled "private". Other things to note The room has streaming TV provided by Xfinity. There is a lot of content available, but if you are looking for a particular show or sports game, guests are welcome to view them on their own device with their own streaming service.
