Description
Welcome to Casa Mañana, a third-floor, beachfront penthouse that is designed to be beautiful, all-natural/sustainable, and functional for families: fully-stocked kitchen, bedrooms with all-natural linens on memory foam mattresses, comfortable living/dining spaces. We are also happy to share our SUPs, beach chairs, beach toys, coolers, sun hats, and beach towels to make your beach days comfortable and fun. Perfectly located - minutes away from golfing, El Yunque, restaurants, bars, and shopping The space Casa Mañana gets a great ocean breeze that can cool the whole apartment day and night. Open the french doors wide, and crack windows in the living room and bedrooms to get a cross breeze. There are two ceiling fans in the main space and fans in every room. Each bedroom has an air conditioning unit with a remote. If any of the units have an indicator to change the filter, you can remove and clean with water. Puerto Rico's electric grid, which was never strong, has been under significant strain post Hurricane Maria. If possible, please turn off air conditioning units when you aren't in the bedrooms. Unusual for many short-term rentals on the island, we have a combo washing machine and dryer located in Casa Mañana. To operate the machines, simply select the program you want, close the door, and hit start. If there is a supply of detergent, then you’re welcome to use as you wish; pour it directly into the tub with the clothes. To operate the dryer, please follow these two easy instructions:1. Clean the lint trap, which is on the inside door of the dryer. 2. Make sure that there is water in the plastic venting tub to the right of the unit (behind the shelving unit on the right side of the closet). It does not need to be full - please fill about halfway. The fridge/freezer: you shouldn’t need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it's not cooling efficiently) please let us know. The stove: the electric stove has four burners, and they get hot quickly! Because it's a counter-top stove, please mind the hot burners. Fully-stocked Kitchen with the following specialized kitchen tools: Automatic coffee maker Pour-over coffee maker Coffee bean grinder Blender Toaster oven Instapot Bar tools Plus, there is a whole cabinet of can insulators, insulated mugs and kid-friendly plates, cups, and utensils. Cloth napkins and towels provided. Feel free to use anything left by previous renters, and feel free to leave any nonperishables that you don't use for those who come behind you. We love Puerto Rico's climate, and so do small ants! If you notice ants in the kitchen, feel free to use ant bait (under the sink) or purchase and use something that you know works. The kitchen is not nut-free. There are three bedrooms in Casa Mañana. All bedrooms have a closet with hangers and dressers so you can unpack while enjoying your stay. Also, we're a family of readers and night-time phone viewers, so we supplied all the beds with reading lights and power strips with USB ports and standard plug-ins. We also left some of our favorite books - feel free to borrow, feel free to add to the collection! We love to sleep and so we pay attention to the details. The bed linens are all-natural fibers (cotton or bamboo) washed in eco-friendly detergent. All the mattresses are memory foam and wrapped in allergen-barrier protectors. And, there are lots of pillows! One bedroom has a king-sized bed; one bedroom has a queen-sized bed; and one bedroom has two bunkbeds, to sleep a total of four people. In addition, there is a pack-and-play with all-natural bedding and blankets. Extra bedding and blankets are in the closets of each room. Aaahhhh...the terrace and balcony are probably our favorite spots in Casa Mañana! We love swinging in the two all-cotton hammock chairs; reading on the two padded, teak lounge chairs; and having our morning coffee or happy hour at the table on the terrace. A note about the terrace: it's a shared space. When this building was first built, it was a shared investment by two San Juan families who wanted a place to vacation together. The grandparents lived in the two penthouses, and they hosted late night parties on the terrace with dominoes, live music, and rum drinks while the cousins slept on mattresses around the edges of the terrace. The grandparents passed it down to their children, who passed it down to their children. Several of the second and third generations of the two families are still owners in the building, and in homage to the original sense of shared community and bonding, we bought a big teak table for the terrace and invite you to share the space with neighbors. If you want the terrace just for your family or friends, then please let the neighbors know that you'll be using it. Guest access A digital guidebook includes all access information. The guidebook will be shared via email immediately after you book. Other things to note In Puerto Rico, beachfront is considered public, which means that if you've accessed the beach, you're allowed to be there. February through September, there's usually a good twenty feet of beach accessible by a set of stairs on the western side of the property. If the ocean is high and access isn't great, then there are are three public access trails to the beach within two blocks to the west. Or, in ten minutes you can walk east and hit miles of public beach starting at Playa Fortuna. We're sharing the things that bring us joy on the beach: Stand Up Paddleboards Beach chairs Beach towels and blankets Coolers Beach toys Sun hats Insulated drink holders Many of the items are stored in the teak storage chests on the balcony. The beach towels and blankets are in the orange storage ottoman in the laundry/hallway area.
