Other things to note Lagos is a perfect base to discover the Algarve, combining coastal living with the charm and convenience of a nearby historic town. Close to both the sea and the city, the area is ideal for relaxing holidays as well as active stays for adults and children alike. Just east of Lagos lies a 5 km long sandy beach in a wide bay framed by dunes. Its fine sand and open space are perfect for walking, jogging, beach sports, or simply relaxing. The regular northwesterly wind also makes it a popular spot for surfers. The shallow water is generally suitable for children, though currents can be stronger at times due to wind conditions.
