The spacious living area offers room to spread out, take in the silence and relax! Curl up in front of the electric fireplace and enjoy the 58" television in the living room with Chromecast and Wi-Fi for high speed streaming and tele-working. Or, spread out in the outdoor entertaining space and enjoy our gorgeous mountain views. We are surrounded by beautiful farms and one of the oldest dairy farms in the state of Virginia! Depending on the time of year, you'll see different types of crops growing in the field behind the property and we guarantee you'll see cows and horses when driving either direction. Three acres of open yards and pristine woods are the perfect backdrop for our new house (2023), making it an ideal weekend retreat away from the busy city life. If you want to explore the wooded area you are likely to run into our gently meandering creek. Or, discover the best spots in the area, including wineries and breweries, caverns and trails, antique shops and local makers, spas and restaurants only a few miles from the house. Whether you are looking for a restful getaway, a source of inspiration, or a place to stay while you discover Virginia, this is the place for you. The Nest is only minutes from hiking trails and just a short drive from the Old Rag trailhead. We designed our home as a place to disconnect from technology and connect with nature but it has excellent cell and wifi service. Spend your time here reading a book from our library, playing board games with your friends and your children, watching the wildlife, and/or stargazing. Our home is deep cleaned in between every guest. However, aromatic smells left from cooking are difficult to remove within a few short hours. Please refrain from cooking strong smells like curry, fish, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, and fry oil etc within a couple of days of your checkout to ensure time to aerate between guests. Failure to do so will result in an excessive cleaning fee if specialty products are required to remove the smell between guests. We utilize the August keyless entry system so you may arrive as early as your check-in time or after hours at your convenience. You will be sent the code immediately after booking - please check your AirBnB messages! We will only reply to AirBnB messenger to ensure we and our guests are protected. Sorry, no pets allowed. Other things to note Note: Garbage collection - Thursday, early afternoon. No guest involvement required. • We provide you with a "starter kit" of toiletries. If you are expecting a stay longer than 2 days you will want to bring additional supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, etc). • We have a septic system. Please do not flush anything besides the toilet paper provided, or pour anything down the sink. • We do not have a garbage disposal so please do not put food down the sink drain. • The instruction manual for the espresso bar and Keurig coffee maker are in the cabinet under the unit. Mugs are in the cabinet above it. There may be some coffee left behind but we do not provide fresh coffee, pods or mixers. • There is a fire extinguisher under the sink. • Please feel free to use what we have provided, however please return all items back where you found them. • Smoking is not allowed inside of the home. Smoking is allowed outside only. We utilize a Nest air system so we do get notifications if the air quality in the home drops significantly. i.e., don't smoke inside! All smoking material must be disposed of and removed from the property. All areas of the property should be left free of cigarette butts. • First Aid kit located in the hidden pantry. • All bathrooms are well-stocked, but additional towels, hand towels and facecloths are located in the hidden pantry. Please leave all dirty laundry in the clothes baskets provided in the hidden pantry/laundry room. • Dish cloths, dish towels and hot mats are in the cabinet to the right of the sink. • Please do not cut on the kitchen counter tops, use the supplied cutting boards in the bottom drawer to the left of the sink. - please do not put hot items directly on the countertops or the kitchen sink. The sink is plastic and will melt. • Internet: There is Wifi at The Nest, the passcode will be provided in your check-in message. • TV: We do not provide cable TV, but the TV in the Living room is a smart TV with Chromecast so you can bring/use your own streaming services. Feel free to stream all your favorites from your personal devices or log into the TV itself. Be sure to log out when you depart or chose "Log out of all devices" from your main account if you forget. • Office space: There is a desk and office chair in the living room for comfortable teleworking. We have Comcast high speed internet that is very reliable. • Nature walks: you are welcome to walk the property, please remember this is a residential neighborhood with low traffic and pets. You may walk, bike, etc on the road. Just be careful as they are back-country and windy roads. • Wildlife: Please keep in mind that there are Deer, fox, squirrels and other types of small critters on the property at any time. There are a couple of our namesake hawks that hang around too! - We are on a well and the water is drawn 420 ft below ground level & filtered, so is absolutely safe to drink. Occasionally, the Owner or their designated representative(s), including Housekeeper, caretaker, or repair person, may enter the property at any reasonable time for inspections, maintenance or repairs with a minimum of two (2) hours advance notice to Guest (from when a message is left in messenger). Landscape and outdoor maintenance personnel may enter the grounds of the property at any time, without prior notice and without entering the home. LIABILITY This home is privately owned. The owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The homeowner is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. Please let us know as soon as you realize you left something behind and we will have the cleaning team do their best to locate it and get it back to you.
