Cabbage Hall Cottage
About the host
Description
This 19C Farm labourers cottage is now a stylishly furnished and comfortable home, perfect for couples and a pet. Downstairs is a comfortable sofa and arm chair for lounging in front of the TV and fire. There is a well equipped galley kitchen. Upstairs is the bathroom with shower over bath. Also the bedroom which has a Kingsize) 5ft wide) bed with feather duvet and pillows and crisp White Company sheets. One dog is welcome ( fee applies) with own bed and must not go on furniture or upstairs. The space The cottage sits on the edge of the conservation village of Clifford in Yorkshire, once a centre for the flax industry. The two Mills are now converted into dwellings. The beautiful limestone conservation has two churches, an ancient font opposite the old convent. There is an excellent fish and chip shop and The Albion pub on the edge of the village. Just down the hill to Bramham is a Post Office and general store which is open every day until late. Basic provisions are here. Five minutes drive away is Boston Spa which has lots of cafes, local shops and restaurants to explore. There are lovely walks by the river Wharf. It is 5 minutes to Bramham Park, home to Leeds Fest, the horse trials and other events all year. Also close is Harewood House, about 20 minutes by car. Wetherby, a vibrant flower filled market town ( market day Thursday) with its famous race course is only three miles away. Here are M and S food, Aldi, Morrisons, a small Sainsburys, a fresh veg shop, two butchers and some excellent bakeries and cafes. Also dress shops, gift shops and a hardware store. Please note the cottage front courtyard has a 1/2 to 1 metre wall around it, but it may not be safe for a bouncing dog. Owners must take responsibility. There is countryside all around, and a field just behind the near by church, so perfect for dog walkers. Guest access The cottage is only 5 minutes from the A1, its half way between London and Edinburgh and an excellent central location for exploring all of Yorkshire. The bus to Leeds and Harrogate stops right outside the door and York is only 25 minutes away. Other things to note ESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY! Lots of walks from the door, a trip up windmill hill gives a magnificent view from which you can see York Minster and 6 other churches. There is a field behind the church for dog exercise. Boston Spa, about a mile away has river walks, cafes, bars and restaurants. There is street parking hopefully right outside depending on arrival time. I also own another 2 bedroom cottage - Snowdrop Cottage in the same row, so perfect for families or groups.
