The space Welcome to 48 Swain Street A beautiful, characterful home in the heart of Watchet’s historic harbour town, created for families and friends who want to spend time together in comfort and style. Sleeping up to 8 guests, the house has 4 spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, including a slipper bath and walk-in shower. Two bedrooms have super-king beds which can be made into twins on request, and the other two have king-size beds. It’s a little bit special, but never feels too precious. We want you to relax, put your feet up, cook together, enjoy a long meal around the table and, most importantly, treasure your time here. The bedrooms All four bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with quality white linen and comfy beds. Each has its own en-suite bathroom with a slipper bath and separate walk-in shower — a lovely place to unwind after a day exploring the coast, walking on Exmoor or discovering the Quantock Hills. Every bedroom also has a dressing area with wardrobe and dressing table, television and hairdryer. Each bedroom is graced with murals inspired by paintings from the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. Two bedrooms have king-size beds and two have super-king beds. The super-king beds can be arranged as twins when requested at the time of booking. The kitchen The well-equipped kitchen is designed for real life, whether you're cooking a special meal for eight, baking a cake or simply making a cup of tea. There’s a range cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer/dryer, along with plenty of equipment for preparing and enjoying meals together. There’s a kitchen table at one end — one of our favourite spots for a morning cup of tea while planning the day ahead. You'll also find cookbooks for inspiration and useful things for days out, including flasks and picnic hampers. Somewhere to eat, relax and be together Across from the kitchen is the sociable sitting and dining room, with the original shop window adding to the character of the house. The dining table comfortably seats eight, making it perfect for long, relaxed meals with family or friends. At the other end of the room are two comfortable four-seater sofas and armchairs — just the place to put your feet up after a day exploring. There are books and board games, a Smart TV with Freeview and a PlayStation 4 with a selection of games. Right in the heart of Watchet One of the lovely things about staying at 48 Swain Street is that you can leave the car behind. We're right in the centre of Watchet’s old harbour town, with the harbour, shops, pubs, cafés, East Quay and beaches all within easy walking distance. The house is also perfectly placed for exploring further afield, with the spectacular landscapes of Exmoor and the Quantock Hills close by. And after a day out, we particularly enjoy walking down to the harbour to watch the sun go down. Parking There is a car park approximately 20 metres from the house on Swain Street, with electric vehicle charging points. You can also pull up outside the house to unload luggage. No garden — but lots to explore 48 Swain Street doesn't have a garden. For us, that's never been a problem because we're right in the heart of Watchet, with the coast and countryside on the doorstep. The cliffs are just a couple of minutes' walk away, and the harbour is a favourite place to head for an evening stroll. Children We feel the house is particularly suited to older children, teenagers and adults. We are happy to welcome younger children, but the house hasn't specifically been designed with toddlers in mind, so we want to be honest about this and make sure 48 Swain Street is the right choice for your family. Dogs Watchet is a wonderful place for dogs, with coastal and moorland walks right on the doorstep. Many local shops are also happy to welcome well-behaved dogs. We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs at 48 Swain Street. There is no garden, but the cliffs are only a couple of minutes' walk away, making it easy to get out for that first morning walk. We ask that: Dogs remain downstairs Dogs are not left alone in the house If your dog is a sofa dog, please bring a blanket for the furniture There is a £20 charge per dog. Please let us know when booking if you plan to bring your dog. A little something extra Some of our guests choose to have a special meal prepared for them in the house during their stay — a lovely alternative to going out to a restaurant. If you would like to arrange a private chef for your stay, please ask us for details.
