Sip morning coffee on the sunlit porch, spend the day kayaking/x-country skiing on Lake Harriet or strolling the parks, then retreat to the deck for evening drinks. Our charming home has everything for your next friends' getaway, family gathering, or business trip. Walk a few tree lined blks to parks, breweries, cafes & award winning restaurants. Walk a few more blks to Lake Harriet, or take a 15 min drive to downtown, museums and the airport. It's a perfect location for exploring Minneapolis. Walk up to our sweet 1930's bungalow (aka Hige House*), past the cheerful yellow door to our enclosed front porch. It's a great place to enjoy the morning sun. Step inside to the living room, drop your bags and relax. Off the living room there's a dining room, with seating for 6. There's a hallway to the bathroom and 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom has a queen bed with 100% cotton sheets. Our bedding, made by California Design Den, are certified and made ethically and sustainably. The bathroom has a bath/shower and is stocked with bath soap, shampoo/conditioner & hairdryer. The kitchen has all the basics, including coffee maker (automatic drip). If there's something specific you'll need for your trip, just let us know. There's a larger upper level bedroom with queen bed. Off the kitchen, take the stairs down to the lower level. Watch your head, these bungalows are sweet but can be tricky for those with some height. Downstairs you'll find the newly renovated bathroom with shower. It's also where the washer/dryer is located. There's a TV room with smart TV so you can access your Netflix, Apple TV or whatever streaming service you use. And if you don't feel like TV, there's plenty of games and puzzles. There's also a separate office space with high speed fiber internet, because sometimes you might need to be connected while on holiday. No need for an office space? The room can transform and become a quiet place for morning yoga. We have a couple of yoga mats for you to use. There's a mudroom with access to a small attached garage. Even though there's lots of street parking, the attached garage is super handy on those snowy days. Enjoy the private back deck with cafe lights to unwind at the end of the day. Note the main level bathroom has a bath/shower combination and the lower level bathroom is a shower (no bath). If you have mobility issues, please check with me to make sure the house will work for you. *What's Hige House? Our house is on Beard Ave., hige is Japanese for beard and a play on the Danish word hygge (rough translation = coziness, comfort, or a form of everyday togetherness). We want your stay to be full of hygge. You'll have access to the entire house with attached garage and lots of street parking. We live nearby and will be available to make your stay enjoyable and fun. We've been in Northern California for 25 years and moved to Minneapolis a few years ago. Cindy is from California but Peter grew up near Linden Hills and we love the area. Linden Hills was named "the best neighborhood to live." It's been described as urban living with small town charm. You can walk to the lake, award winning restaurants, breweries, and parks. From our house, you can walk to: -Linden Hills Park and Rec Center (2 blocks). Playground, basketball, bocce ball, tennis courts, wading pools and ice rink. -Waveland Triangle Park (2 blocks). The only free clay tennis courts in the Twin Cities. -Cafes, bakery and brewery (3 blocks). Cafe Ceres has amazing pistachio croissants. Turtle Bakery has the best ginormous ginger cookies and Wooden Ship brewery is a fun place to grab a flight. -Linden Hills Co-op (6 blocks) -The Village at 44th and Upton. The hub of Linden Hills shops and amazing restaurants (8 blocks) -Lake Harriet & Bandshell Park (9 blocks) -Lyndale Park (1 mile). Not just a little corner park, it's expansive, 60+ acres off the northern shores of Lake Harriet, with several separate gardens, a bird sanctuary, a rec center and a sledding hill. -Day Spa near 50th and France. Because sometimes you just need to be pampered (1 mile away. It's a longer walk but it's also a short drive) Bike, Bus or Drive to: -Walker Museum (4 miles) -Minneapolis Institute of Art (4 miles) -Convention Center (5 miles) -US Bank Stadium (6 miles) -Guthrie Theatre (6 miles) -University of Minnesota (7 miles) -Target Center (8 miles) -Mall of America (9 miles) -Airport (11 miles) I know the cleaning fees seem high but they actually don't cover the real cost. We use a cleaning service that pays livable wages, uses hybrid vehicles, and non toxic chemicals so the total costs is a bit more but we want to support local companies that do good. We're located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Please respect our house and our neighbors. Lake Harriet/Linden Hills is on the flightpath for MSP. It's not bad at our house but can be noticeable for some.
