The John Howland Farm is an iconic 1840s family farm. We follow strict cleaning protocols and only accept whole house reservations. Your party will be the only guests in the farmhouse with suites. The "Butterfly Suite" includes three bedrooms, sitting room with board games, books, and private bath. The "Garden Suite" is fully ADA accessible with bedroom, bath, and sitting room. The "Pine Cone Suite" is also ADA accessible with bedroom, bath, and adjacent laundry room. The space The farm features historic barns, rolling fields, an organic vegetable and flower garden, a fishing stream, and over 200 acres of scenic Upstate New York farm land and woodlands. The farm is perfect for guests looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway while allowing easy access to Ithaca, Owego, Elmira, and Binghamton. Guest access This listing gives private access to the whole house. All living spaces are for guest use only. The house includes: five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room with 'smart' TV, a dining room which seats twelve, a huge eat in kitchen, a laundry room, and three outdoor porches. The kitchen is modern and has all appliances one needs for anything from a simple meal to banquet preparations - just bring groceries. Please make yourself at home! Other things to note There's lots to do on the farm! Pack a fishing pole or kayak and spend a quiet afternoon on the creek. Enjoy a bike ride or a walk on the beautiful country road. Make time to stroll in our organic vegetable and flower garden, or go hiking on the over 200 acres of quiet country fields and woodlands. Behold the breathtaking splendor of New England’s Fall colors during September/October. Build a fire in the outdoor fire pit and cook marshmallows in the backyard. Relax in the backyard hammock during the summer. Pack your cross country skis to enjoy a winter wonderland. A three quarter mile uphill hike leads to the cabin in the woods. Pack a picnic lunch and spend a quiet afternoon sitting on the cabin porch or in front of the fire. The farm is close to Ithaca, Elmira, Owego and Binghamton. If you noticed a recent increase in fees, the Howland Farm is now collecting and remitting taxes. These taxes help support the local community and enhance tourism opportunities in the area. Use of the Howland Farm Guest House is limited to the number of overnight guests identified on your reservation. If you wish to host a dinner party, gathering, or reunion, please let us know. We are happy to talk about your plans for visitors, provide a price list, and/or customize a package to meet your individual needs. We offer discounts for long term stays.
