The Mango Tree Room | Olinda Historic Center

Private room with an amazing location, in the heart of the Historic Center of Olinda, 100m from the main square (the absolute place to be during carnaval!) The room has its own independent entrance and bathroom. It´s located in our backyard, right by the pool, surrounded by tropical plants and under an incredibly generous mango tree - a true oasis of peace and tranquility in the middle of town! We live and work in the main house and will be happy to share the pool, deck and garden with you. The space **CARNAVAL 2025: During Carnaval, we´ll charge you for the full 5-day (friday to wednesday), no matter how long you stay. Please do not book shorter stays unless you are willing to pay the full 5-day package. The price listed is for a maximum of 2 guests. We charge an extra R$2.000 (Brazilian Reais) per adicional guest for the 5 days. We recommend you write us a message before making a reservation, so we can get everything clear! ** The century-old mansion was fully remodeled in 1994 with the help of architects, historians and archaeologists from the Brazilian Federal Institute of Historical Heritage (IPHAN). The swimming pool and the garden are the perfect places to renew one´s energy after a long walk through Olinda´s historical hills, and the playground, which has a swing and a sandbox, is ideal for children to play while their parents relax in one of the king-size hammocks under the mango tree. Guest access Guests have access to the garden, pergola, deck, and pool (when it´s open, please check before requesting a reservation!). Unfortunately, at the moment we do not offer a kitchen for our guests. Other things to note We can add an extra mattresses for groups of more than 2 people. Like any other place with lots of plants, we usually receive our fare share of visitors, most of which are more than welcome: bats, wild rodents, lizards, small monkeys, hummingbirds and wild parrots, colorful butterflies, and, (unfortunately!) mosquitoes. We provide mosquito nets and fans, which, for most people, resolve the issue, but if you are allergic or particularly sensible to mosquito bites, please make sure to bring repellent, trousers or even consider renting a more "urban" space. The swimming pool is usually only open during the summer months. If this is a problem for you, please inquire before booking. Please note that, like the great majority of houses in Olinda, we do not have hot water. (For most people, this is not an issue, since we are in the tropics and the weather out here is warm all year long!)
