The space Guests will love Sunset Bay Cottage at Silver Beach on the Eastern Shore of Virginia because it packs all of the following qualities into one amazing experience: - direct access to a private sandy beach space directly at the rear of the cottage (10 second walk!), with covered decks overlooking the beach and Bay, with an outdoor shower facility - peace and quiet - when you open the windows you can hear the waves ebb and flow - wildlife watching including opportunities to see ospreys and the occasional dolphin pod - excellent fishing opportunities, including fishing from right off the beach - quiet local wharf for boat launching at Bayford on the Nassawadox Creek, which is only a short boat ride away (small $3 launch fee), or at Morley's Wharf (open 24 hours) on the Occohannock Creek - amazing sunsets over the Chesapeake bay - open spaces for easy entertaining - perfect for a family looking for a quiet get away with direct access to the Chesapeake Bay - fully equipped kitchen; outdoor BBQ grill - plenty of free parking for at least 2 cars - many local Eastern Shore activities and site-seeing opportunities, both north and south of the home Sunset Bay Cottage can easily accommodate up to 4 guests (over 2 bedrooms and one full bathroom). While we provide bed linens (including pillows) and shower towels, as well as lounge chairs under the covered deck by the beach, please bring your own beach towels. Please also note that cell phone coverage can be very spotty depending upon your carrier. Guest access Guests at Sunset Bay Cottage will have access to the entire house and the beach directly behind the house. A small outbuilding and owner's closet are reserved for the owner's use. Please note that the beaches next door are also private so please be mindful of that when enjoying the beach. Other things to note Sunset Bay Cottage is on well water. It is not chlorinated like city water. It is perfectly fine to drink but please feel free to use the Brita water filter and/or drink bottled water as well of course. Please note that, while we have good internet service at the house, cell phone service can be spotty depending on your service provider. Some carriers provide better coverage than others in the area. The Cottage does not have a land line. We provide bed linens for each of the 2 twin beds and the queen bed (sheets, pillow cases and bedspreads), pillows and 4 bath towels. We are asking guests to bring their own beach towels. We are focused on cleaning and have made some changes there as well. We want the cottage to be as safe as possible, for us as well as our guests. We also provide some limited toilet paper and trash bags for use of our guests, but if you think you are going to need more than a few rolls/bags, please bring additional ones or purchase some while in town. We have provided in the house a set of house rules and information. The guidebook on this website also includes a list of cool things to do in the area, including good local seafood and other restaurants, craft breweries, local museums, guided kayak and fishing tours (including a kayak trip up Nassawadox and Church creeks to a good local winery and vineyard - book ahead of time with SouthEast Expeditions), historic towns and other interesting and fun things to do Swim at your own risk - the sandbars are constantly shifting. Bug spray is recommended for the summer months. The beach directly behind the cottage is private for your use. Please note that adjacent beaches are also privately owned so please be mindful of that when enjoying the beach. We maintain one security camera at the cottage, but it is exterior only. There are no indoor security cameras.
