A modern, one bedroom lodge in a gated private 50 acre estate in the Tamana Rainforest, bounded by the Cumuto River. Minutes from the Aripo Savannas, the lodge makes for a great get away retreat, especially for nature lovers and bird watchers. Located 30 minutes from the international Piarco airport and 45 minutes from the Port of Spain Lighthouse far from the hustle and bustle of city life visitors can relax and enjoy the country air and sounds. The space El Suzanne Rainforest Lodge is ideal for visitors to Trinidad who would like a long peaceful vacation which might include visiting the Asa Wright Nature Centre, the Tamana Bat Caves, the Matura Leatherback Turtle Centre and other nearby attractions. The lodge is the private guest quarters of Manor Del Suzanne (the main estate house and home of your host Dianne) nestled in the peaceful green Tamana rainforest where deer and ocelots are some of the increasingly rare wildlife. All you have to bring are your condiments and ingredients for your favourite meals. If you do not wish to spend time in the kitchen, the near by bistros and cafés in Shops of Arima are 20 mins or download the Food Drop app. to order-in. Guest access The Manor's large north terrace or the south patio overlooking the Grove can be reserved for private functions by guests staying at the lodge or simply enjoyed as a shared space with the owner of the estate. Walking tours in the forest can be arranged on request and tours to Matura Beach where the great Leatherback turtles journey thousands of miles to lay their eggs annually. Tours available. Leatherback Lodge Tours **Mermaid Pool 3-4 hours - Just a five minutes drive to the head of a lovely hiking trail flanked by pine trees and a variety of beautiful flora. Take a cool plunge into any of the 3 natural pools located a short distance from each other and they are each an amazing site to behold. (Degree of difficulty for hike – Easy to medium. Actual hike time 30 minutes each way). Packed Lunch, Snacks and water - US$100.00 first person. US$40.00 each additional person **Rio Seco Waterfalls 5-6 hours – This tour is similar in topography to that of Turure. Rio Seco Waterfall stands at about 20 feet high with the most inviting emerald green pool of about 60 feet in diameter. A visit to Salybia River and Beach. (Degree of difficulty for hike – Easy to medium. Actual hike time 60 minutes each way). Packed Lunch, Snacks, Water - US $125.00 per person. US$45.00 each additional person **Turure Waterfalls 5-6 hours – Trek through amazing rain forest and rivers leading the spectacular Turure Waterfalls which in itself is sight to behold. La Concepcion Stud Farm which was formally an old quarry amazingly converted to a horse farm now used to breed race horses. There is a beautiful river, along with lovely ponds which is home to variety of waterfowl and other exotic birds. (Degree of difficulty for hike – Easy to medium. Actual hike time 45 minutes each way). Packed Lunch, Snacks, Water - US $150.00 per person. US$75.00 each additional person **Leatherback Turtle Nesting – (From March 1st to August 31st ) Come and enjoy a delicious, authentic local dinner prepared by Nella. Then take off to have a first-hand experience to observe the spectacular site of the giant Leatherback turtle, as she makes her way to the shore of Matura Beach to lay her eggs. This emotional event is guided by professional and knowledgeable guides. You are able to touch and take photos of this beautiful creature as she labors to ensure the survival of her species. A real labor of love. (Average tour time 2-3 hours) Night Tour from 8.00pm – Dinner and Taxi included. US $220.00 per person. US$100.00 each additional person Other things to note Monthly staying guests enjoy a special monthly rate inclusive of electricity of up to US $50 per month. Should electricity consumption exceed this amount, guests will be presented with a request for reimbursement of the amount exceeded at the end of each month's stay.
