Oceanview is a private, good quality 2 br self contained & self catering apartment occupying half the lower level of the Roundhouse, a unique octagonal building overlooking Little Bay. This prime location is walking distance to the many amenities Castara offers & the beach a 2 minute stroll down the hill. There is a SEA VIEW from the balcony & every room, a 'rainforest feel' & entertainment by wildlife from the comfort of your balcony. These are just a few reasons for booking Oceanview. Please note that this apartment can be rented as a 1 br also. The accommodation is well thought out with attention to detail in an unusually shaped space offering comfort, quality, and as mentioned by guests a good homely relaxing vibe. The photos speak for themselves. Sound proofing is effective & guests are able to fully relax without bothering the upstairs space and vice versa. The kitchen and wood furniture are made from locally ethically managed wood from Trinidad. A cooler and ice pack is available on request. ATTENTION BIRD LOVERS So far 8 species of birds have been spotted from the balcony. Also, different varieties of humming birds are daily visitors and love feeding on both the tree adjacent to the balcony. An extra cleaning service is available is at 250 ttd and a wash and air dried load for 100 ttd. Both can be requested during your stay. Its quite easy to see from the photographs. Basically entrance to the property is via shared steps leading to a landing, turn left and the steps are then on the right going down to the apartment and are for the sole use of Oceanview's guests. (see photos) Although I live on the premises (top floor) I reassure my guests that they are free to relax and enjoy the apartment with no interference from me. It works very well with the soundproofing between floors. I am of course available to guests should they need help and information. Castara is a friendly fishing village popular for visitors wanting a different and unique vacation experience. Guests find it refreshing to become part of a local community rather than a designated holiday resort. Guests feel safe walking around at night and many locals are on hand to help or just have a lime (local for socializing). Its geographical location alone is fantastic and the proximity to the oldest protected rainforest in the Caribbean is the backdrop for lush quiet sandy beaches. The reef at Little Bay is great for snorkelling. There is also a local Master Diving instructor available with Padi certification courses available. Social boat trips and fishing trips are very popular and excellent qualified and experienced guides for rainforest and island tours and local walks. Castara Tourism Development Association will resume meeting in January 2023. A well balanced membership of both locals and foreigners, has been cited by the local Government as a successful flagship for Community Tourism in Tobago. The Association won a grant from the United Nations to implement an educational programme for young and old. I am proud to say we initiated a comprehensive recyling depot in the village centre as well as a 'green' shop. All of us involved in the Castara tourism industry are working hard to revitalise the village after the country shut down. Visitors can enjoy quality accommodation, social activities, and food facilities for which the village enjoys a unique reputation. Everything in Castara is within walking distance, give or take a few hills!!! To reach further afield, I can suggest village drivers to carry you into town and back or island tours if hiring a car is not an option. You can even hire a local boatman as transport if the destination is located on the coastline. We do have a local bus service into Scarborough. I can give you up to date times and supply bus tickets at 5ttd a pop! DIVERS there is a Padi diving instructor who as operated from Castara for some considerable time. I can provide you with details upon your arrival. Those who enjoy fishing can book fishing trips with local boat owners. Bird watchers bring your binoculars, you don't even have to leave your balcony to watch a variety of tropical birds, humming birds and other local wildlife. Car hire is available within the village or picked up at the airport. There are many tours on offer from local operators within the village Baby sitting by a local so mum and dad can have an evening out. A visitors' book is in the apartment along with Guest comments folder in which you invited to write comments. There is nothing particularly wrong with the tap water and is fine for cooking, tea etc but I would still advise newcomers to buy drinking water to be on the safe side
