Lake Overlook Retreat: 5 acres near Duke, UNC, Eno

Escape the intensity of the world in your own private paradise — a serene lakefront oasis that feels secluded but with many delivery options available. Imagine strolling down to the lake after dinner to watch the sunset, enjoying the private dock. Or take a quick swim for exercise. Powered boats aren’t allowed so there’s no motor noise to upset your fishing or laying back with some tea and a good book. The space New for 2025: En suite and secondary bedroom both have room darkening curtains. This 1824 square foot lakefront chalet is situated on 5 acres and is only 30 minutes from RDU airport, 15 minutes from Duke, and 20 minutes from UNC. The lake is great for fishing and we provide fishing poles and equipment. There are also kayaks and a canoe for paddling. We truly take stocking the house for your convenience seriously and provide more amenities than we have personally experienced at a vacation rental because we know how frustrating it is to spend your vacation shopping for basics. Our long list includes tissues, napkins, paper towels, TP, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, rinse aid, trash bags, hypoallergenic hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Forget your toothbrush? Check the drawer in the hall bath, we likely got you covered. Bathrooms also have sunscreen, bug spray, poison ivy treatment and first aid just in case! We like to be cozy, so there are ton of extra blankets and lots of pillows. The 20' x 15' deck with sliding glass doors into the great room features a six burner propane grill with a side burner and all of the tools for your outdoor cooking endeavors. Extra propane is stocked in the carport. We also have outdoor couches and a propane heater for comfort in cold weather. There's plenty of firewood around the property and we usually keep split wood in the carport wood rack. We stock the kitchen with everything you need to cook including a wide variety of pots and pans, crock pot, ninja blender, baking sheets, toaster oven, and cooking utensils. We provide cooking oils, basic seasonings, honey, tea, sugar, coffee beans and a grinder. We have abundant glassware options, and have plastic cups, plates and bowls for the kids. You'll even find ziplock baggies, parchment, foil, and plastic wrap. For food you don't have to make, there are plenty of delivery options available, including restaurants, groceries, and alcohol. Everything you need can be delivered to you! There are ton of dining options in Hillsborough, Durham, and Chapel Hill. The en suite bedroom features a Layla copper-infused king bed. Samsung 55" TV and Soundbar. Plush rocking chair, full-length mirror, two dressers and nightstands with lamps. The oversized walk-in closet has ample hangers and luggage racks. French doors open to a private deck with lake views and a treehouse feel. Now featuring curtains to help you sleep in! En suite bath features a Toto Washlet Bidet, divine radiant floor heating, dual vanity with recessed sinks, salt lamp night light, and a view of the lake from the porcelain throne! The shower features a convenient seat and 3-way rainfall shower-head. Hall bath has a combination tub and shower. Both bathrooms include bluetooth speakers for all your shower singing aspirations. The secondary bedroom features a queen size thermapedic memory foam mattress and a gorgeous wrought iron head and foot board. Lush oversized reading chair with an ottoman. Walk-in closet has ample hangers and a luggage rack. Curtains added in 2025 so you can sleep in! Office features a queen-sized futon bed that works great as a couch for lounging, and we have a memory foam topper for flexible sleeping arrangements. You can work comfortably with a mesh office chair and ample work space that looks out into the woods. We supply basic office supplies and an all-in-one laser printer. The office also has a large flat screen TV that can be hooked up with HDMI to any video game console or device, can also serve as a second monitor, and has Roku with Disney+ signed in for the kids. Great room features vaulted ceilings and new 90 Series 65" 4K Smart UHD NanoCell TV. Oversized couch and loveseat in the living room are big enough for naps, and there's an ottoman for optimal lounging. Fainting couch with reading lamp that is also a Qi charger has a divine view of the lake, especially at sunset, and the most adorable side tables with plenty of leather coasters to hold your drinks. The behind the couch table with 3 bar stools create flexible seating options for work, dining, or socializing. There is a glass top wrought iron dining table with 4 chairs, plus in the kitchen you’ll find 3 additional wooden chairs, and wooden table with expandable leafs and felt on the legs which can be used as additional dining space if needed - just move to your heart's content! Lake Overlook is a 7.5 acre nature preserve that is suitable for swimming, fishing, and paddling. No motors, gas, or oil allowed on the lake. We provide turkish towels, pool noodles, body boards, portable coolers, camp chairs, fishing gear, and 2 sit-on-top kayaks and a canoe. There is an outdoor shower between the decks to rinse off from muddy lake adventures. We respect privacy and security cameras only focus on the front entrance, driveway, and carport. No living areas, nor the back decks or backyard are monitored. Guest access Entire 5 acre lake property including floating dock and carport, except the storage area attached to the carport which is for the owners and our staff only. Guests do NOT have permission to access the property before check-in. Trespassing will be captured by outdoor security cameras the focus on the driveway, carport, and front door only. Other things to note Please ask in advance for early check in or late check out, we can usually accommodate with notice. Home is on septic, please do not use harsh cleaners and keep food and oil out of the drain. Only use provided toilet paper and do not flush hygiene products, paper towels, food, or "flushable wipes" -- there is no such thing, use the trash. No metal on the non-stick pans as it will permanently damage and require replacement. Please use coasters found all over the house to prevent (further) damage to wood furniture. No motors, gas, or oil allowed on the lake. We provide turkish towels, pool noodles, body boards, portable coolers, and camp chairs. There is an outdoor shower between the decks to rinse off from muddy lake adventures. Please do not leave personal items or trash on the dock, it will blow in the lake. Our lake retreat is not appropriate for parties or events. A maximum of 5 adults overnight, 12 people total for day visits, and 6 cars. No street parking. The driveway and entrances are monitored by security cameras.
