If it’s nature and quiet you want to immerse yourself in, stay here to get away from the hustle, bustle and noise of life. Amongst the woods and pasture at the end of a road less traveled awaits your humble, cozy cabin. 3 miles of maintained private trails, 2 ponds, woods, a .75 mile walk to a lovely spot on Lake Superior or a 5 mile drive to public sandy swimming beach, boat launch, and lighthouse. Launch your Keweenaw adventures from this simple yet well-appointed tucked away hidden gem! The space The cabin is at White Sky Woods, 240 acres where your hosts live (just across the road in a yurt) and steward the land - located in historic Jacobsville. Our family remodeled this vacation rental cabin which is built around the original and historic settler's hand-hewn cabin. This is the spot for hiking, snowshoeing, Lake Superior beaches, lighthouses, private sunsets, dark skies...or simply resting and recharging. Off the beaten path yet a great launching point for your Keweenaw adventures! Excellent for solo travelers, couples, friends or a small family! Get your dose of Vitamin N (Nature) - Guests have access to our 3+ mile trail system exploring woods, pastures, ponds and wetlands. A map is provided in the Welcome Binder. Trails are available year-round and groomed in winter for snowshoeing (as weather allows). Enjoy hearing only the sounds of nature. Observe the wildlife through sight and sound. It is not unusual to see deer, beaver, porcupine, sandhill cranes, eagles, song birds, and many more depending on the season. Guests can explore everything the Keweenaw has to offer with these popular destinations: • Lake Linden, 25 minutes • Historic Calumet, 30 minutes • Historic Hancock, 40 minutes • Downtown Houghton/Michigan Tech, 45 minutes • Copper Harbor/Brockway Mountain, 1 hour • Dozens of outstanding beaches around the Keweenaw ...and so much more! These encounters also includes little critters like mice and bugs such as mosquitoes and flies. We maintain pest management prevention, but this is prevention and doesn't always guarantee elimination. Note for early summer visitors: As sure as it will be blistering hot and the sun will shine in the desert, so will the Northwoods have mosquitos and flies. This is nature in the Northwoods. Some years are better than others, unfortunately we cannot predict. Be prepared with coverage and bug spray to enjoy your stay. We are dog friendly! To keep our cabin dog friendly we rely on our guests to be responsible pet owners during their stay. *Guests are expected to pick-up after their dog(s)(bags and garbage provided), *Keep dogs leashed when outdoors (this is for the safety of your pet, for example to avoid wild encounters with animals like porcupines). *Dogs are family and we recognize the value of being able to travel with your pet, but we count on responsible pet owners to be able to offer a pet-friendly stay. Pet fee applies. 2 dogs maximum. Please be sure to add your pets to your reservation when booking. Check out our Guidebook for more details!
