The Bear Room - Whitworth Family FarmHouse

One of three bedrooms upstairs in the Whitworth Family FarmHouse, The Bear Room is simple and bright! The Bear Room is across the hall from the bathroom, and offers two twin beds and a desk. It's private entrance and shared balcony overlook the deck and the pond. A third sleeping space is a trundle under a twin bed. Enjoy a single good night's rest, or come for an extended renewing stay. We are close to Bastrop State Park, Camp Swift, and many area festivals and events. The space A peaceful spot for getting away from the city and the fast pace of daily life, The Bear Room is one of several rooms available for guests to stay at Whitworth Family FarmHouse. It, along with the others upstairs are named for ultra distance races (100 miles!) - a passion of your host, Elroy Whitworth, who has run all of these! Consider this an ideal space for retreat, for intentional reflection or writing, or simply for chillin' out! Guest access You are welcome to use the living areas of the house during your stay. You will find coffee and tea in the kitchen, which is stocked with cooking and eating ware for your use. Readers are likely to find some treasures in the well-stocked library, as well as several areas to curl up with a book. The 3-tiered deck overlooks the pond, where dragonflies and birds abound! A hot tub is waiting to restore your body and mind! In cold weather, the rustic indoor fireplace in the sunken living room provides warmth and ambience for relaxation and reflection. If you enjoy meditation, please walk the labyrinth across the small pond in the front of the house! Whitworth Family Farm is also home to "The Little House" (a stand alone efficiency apt), an 8000 sq ft barn, a labyrinth, a blackberry patch, an orchard, and gardens growing any number of vegetables throughout the year. You are free to roam the property, just be mindful of other guests who may be staying in the FarmHouse or at the Little House, and respectful of the owner's goings on in the barn. During your stay When the hosts are available, we will greet you with keys and other check-in details. If not, we will guide you through the check-in process through email and text. You are welcome to contact us with any questions! Other things to note Whitworth Family Farm is also home to two farm dogs, who are likely to greet you with barks and wagging tails! Scout is the black one, and Erasmus is the one who looks like a tiger and behaves like the puppy he still is! They will respond to pets and scratches, and will go their own way if ignored.
