Lake Sullivan 1,103 Acres is one of the larger lakes located in Morrison County near the towns of Hillman and Harding. Near the Crow Wing County line in northeast Morrison County, the lake has a broad connection to Platte Lake via the Platte River. Much of the lake other than the marshy areas has been developed. Sand and gravel are the most common shallow water bottom types. The lake supports a diverse aquatic plant community with emergents such as wild rice, hardstem bulrush, and cattails being common on the north half of the lake and bushy pondweed, white-stem pond weed, and water celery being the most common submerged plants throughout the lake. Lake Sullivan also has a variety of fishing structures such as steep drop-offs, points, vegetation islands, weed lines, flats, and sunken bars. The lake supports a diverse fish community that inthat provides plenty of angling opportunities. Good land use practices are employed in the watershed by lakeshore owners to protect and maintain the water quality and fish habitat in the lake. Fish Species: Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass, Walleye, White Sucker, Yellow Bullhead, Yellow Perch. 2. This lake is 1,746 acres and approximately 23 feet deep at its deepest point. Anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Large mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkin seed, Walleye, Yellow Bullhead and Yellow Perch. Crane, eagle, hawk, duck, geese, loon, and pelican are frequent flyers on our lake. Platte Lake has three inlets and one outlet, which classifies it as a drainage lake. The Platte River flows through the lake and provides a broad connection to Sullivan Lake. The Platte River then eventually joins the Mississippi River. Throughout the year, there is plenty of opportunity to see the activities of our precious wildlife. Whether it is the courtship of loons, deer on the island or eagles fishing, our lake has abundant wildlife to photograph and view.
