Description

The Carriage House is a beautifully restored historical building nestled in the center of a quiet mountain town. It features a private, newly renovated studio loft space for up to four guests, equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, large custom bath and office nook. Surrounded by Monongahela National Forest, the Carriage House is just minutes from walking/hiking trails. It is conveniently located next to the Allegheny Highlands Rail Trail and the gravel railroad grade extending to Thomas, WV. The space At the risk of disrepair, our historical (c. 1900-1935) Carriage House was fully restored in 2020, making it the perfect mix of old and new. We have completely renovated the upstairs loft of the Carriage House to create a unique, cozy getaway. We did our best to preserve as much original wood and architecture of the building that was possible, and incorporated similar styles, like the wooden paneling along the walls and ceiling, and the open ceiling window to highlight the inner structures of the cupola. At the same time, we combined the comfort of a modern kitchen and bathroom, with fun eclectic furnishings, including many vintage items and furniture that we think add to the historic character of the space. The property is located just up the hill from the old 19th century railroad grade of the Dry Fork Railroad. Studio Loft- The studio loft includes a queen bed with foam mattress, a pottery barn sleeper sofa that sleeps two in living room area, a reading nook with two chairs, vintage office desk, dining area for 4, full kitchen with 2-burner stove and under counter fridge, full bathroom, and stacked washer and dryer. Everything is brand new and tastefully decorated. Kitchen and Dining Room - Stainless steel appliances, butcher block counter-tops, dining area and a picturesque view of the small town nestled in front of a mountainous backdrop. We have made sure to provide you with everything you need in the kitchen, with amenities including a toaster oven, microwave, plenty of serving dishes, and a Keurig coffee machine. Please note, we do not have a freezer. Heating and Cooling - Brand-new HVAC system. Wifi - Internet access is available, but please note you are still in a rural area, with minimal bandwidth for streaming videos, uploading/downloading large files, playing online games, or audio/video chatting. That being said, we are quite impressed with the internet speed and have had no issues. Guest access - Guests will have access to the top floor studio loft. There are steps up to the studio loft. This space is not handicapped accessible. Access to the first floor space is restricted, as it is currently under construction. There are other buildings on the property, each in different stages of development. For your safety, they are restricted. Please do not attempt to enter these buildings. We are not liable for any accidents on the premises. Other things to note: •Please respect the locals and the town. This is a quiet town and we like it that way. We do not allow parties and prefer you to keep the noise at a minimum throughout the day, but especially in the evenings and at night. Littering, vandalism, and loitering is prohibited. This town is small enough that acts of these kinds will be noticed and brought to our attention. On a more positive note, our town is full of kind, inviting, friendly people, many of which would be happy to chat with you! They too want to ensure you enjoy your stay here, so please do your best to respect them and our town. •The Carriage House is an old building, and while the loft studio has been upgraded with a new HVAC system, it can still get cold in the winter. We recommend you utilize the additional blankets we provide and pack extra layers of clothing, as well as, a pair of slippers to wear inside if you are prone to cold. •During extreme winter weather, it is possible that the water pipes may freeze. If this does happen, please let us know immediately. We have someone nearby that can assist. •There are steps up to the studio loft. This space is not handicapped accessible. During the winter months, the steps may freeze. They may also be slippery when wet, even just from rain, so please use caution.
