Our Barnhaus is a modern retreat in the countryside between Madison and Mount Horeb. We are 9 miles west of Madison and 3 miles east of Mount Horeb. We charge no cleaning fee and we pay your airbnb fees. Our oasis is on a hill with a view out over our 65 acres of prairie. Bring the family dog and walk the trails down to the sugar river creek that wanders through our property. Enjoy the coyotes calling during peaceful, star filled evenings. The cottage was built on the front of a barn . The space is modern with an open floor plan with stunning views from our hilltop perch above the prairie. Other than our two greenhouses, this is the only building on the property. We live in Madison and can assist as needed. This is a very private setting at the end of a 1/4 mile long driveway. When we stay we always bring our dogs. There are mowed paths through the prairie for you and the doggies if you bring yours. We have a television with over the air channels only. Our wifi is through Starlink Satellite. It is pretty reliable but we recommend you have your own data plan on your phone if Internet is critical to your stay. We get good cellphone reception. We have in floor radiant heating. We welcome all dogs but please no cats, as much as I love them! We are available by phone We are in prime biking country -- if you like hills! Or if you prefer a flat bike ride, we are 2 miles from the military ridge bike path for a scenic ride through the sugar river wetlands. Nearby Mount Horeb is historic with a great brew pub, cafe and history museum. Note that we maintain a cactus and succulent greenhouse and have a large vegetable garden on the property. For stays longer than a week note that during the growing season we need to stop out at least once a week to maintain the property, including mowing of the lawns and prairie paths. We notify guests before stopping out and can visit without disturbing guests in the cottage.
