Description
It's easy to enjoy early mornings out on the lake when it's a 100 yard walk to your private buoy. This authentic Tahoe cabin with lake views has an expansive deck for entertaining or relaxing after drinks on the beach. Perfect for couples or a family, we have made this our home away from home, with all the luxuries including two brand new king size beds, wi-fi, 55" big screen and top of the line appliances. A full bath with tub and a private outdoor shower make it easy to get ready and go. The space **Winter Note! It snows in Tahoe and sometimes it snows A LOT! You will need a four wheel drive vehicle during the winter months. We are plowed when it snows, but sometimes it snows faster than the plow can get around. This is true throughout Tahoe. When it snows a lot, you will need to shovel outside the door and down the steps to keep from being snowed in. Please remember that houses are not resorts with staff to keep the paths cleared. That said, there is great snowshoeing just outside the door with plenty of room to build a sledding path that ends in the driveway. The winter experience in Tahoe is truly an experience! This is a true Tahoe cabin, located on a private acre and built by an eccentric Swede by the name of Stein Nielsen. Stein lived in each home he built while he finished the intricate details such as hand hewn beams, hand-made kitchen cabinetry and the trim work found throughout the homes. Look closely and you will notice lots of hand carved details including the fireplace mantle. One of the unique touches included in each of the homes Nielsen built in this small neighborhood is a custom dish hutch; ours is still in use today in the dining area. Only a few families have been lucky enough to own this special cabin, including Ty Cobb's granddaughter. The Cobb family dubbed the house "Little House in the Trees" while Ty's home across the lake was called the "Big House in the Trees". If you are lucky enough to stay in this home, be sure to enjoy the morning sunrise at least once. In June and July the sun rises directly across the lake. Sunsets are also breathtaking, and when the moon is full, the light on the lake is true romance. We love the large deck and our private 1 acre lot for summer entertaining, the oh-so-short walk to the beach, the fact that we can be on our boat in less than five minutes! and that our boat is always in deep water, even in drought conditions. We love the beach for paddle boarding, kayaking, and the bike path which easily beats driving a car into Tahoe City on the weekends. Sunnyside, Fire Sign Cafe and West Shore Market are all about an easy mile away. Homewood Ski Resort is less than 5 minutes away and there is a shuttle servicing both Alpine and Squaw picking up at Sunnyside. Hiking is a favorite Tahoe pastime and from this house you can access several incredible hiking trails without ever getting into a car. The top of West Shore Mountains, with views of Blackwood Canyon and, of course, that gorgeous lake across the street, is a favorite destination. For a quick hike with spectacular views, Eagle Rock is also within walking distance. In the winter you can snowshoe into the adjacent wilderness, or spend the afternoon building sledding trails just behind the house, landing in the driveway. Guest access The entire cabin including an expansive deck and a private buoy (additional $30 per night) is available for your enjoyment! BBQ, bikes, paddle boards and a kayak are on the property for your enjoyment. There is a minimum three night stay on weekends, though sometimes the calendar can accommodate shorter stays, so please inquire and we will do all we can to make it work. Last minute specials may be available please inquire! Other things to note Privacy is a key feature of Grace by the Lake. The acre lot on a dead end street has only one neighbor. **Winter Note!
