The space This early 1800’s coastal home sits across the street from the ocean on Union Bay. It’s close to restaurants, beach, family-friendly activities & much more. You’ll find it the perfect location to the neighboring Downeast coastal towns and Acadia National Park. From Surry to Acadia's Park entrance is approximately 23 miles. You'll love the house’s historic charm and the property’s quiet and private 2 acres. You'll also find a large pond that sits on the property with a bridge and path that leads into the woods. — The space — Great for families and pets are welcome with prior approval of hosts. The house is situated across the street from the ocean. A quick 2 mile bike ride down the street takes you to a public beach that welcomes pets. At this same location, you'll find Perry’s Lobster Shack which has incredible seafood with dining on the water. You can charter a boat and customize your trip with a variety of activities that include food, beverages, lobstering, fishing and more. The house has 4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 comfortably, and can house up to 11 people. Our listing accepts 8 but we can add additional people at an additional cost upon request and approval by hosts. There is 1 large King bedroom downstairs with a private sliding door to the back deck and access to the backyard. Upstairs is the second bedroom with a Queen sleigh bed, antique French sitting couch and large Smart TV. The upstairs guest room with the two full size beds is setup for children and comes fully stocked with toys and activities for all ages. The fourth listed bedroom doubles as the upstairs sitting room/office, where you will find a twin loveseat/chair sleeper with a PlushBeds® memory foam mattress. This room is equipped with a smart TV that doubles as a monitor for your laptop. It also has a printer/scanner for your convenience. The house has the Fastest Wifi available in the area (One Gig Fiber Service) for those that need to stay connected for work or other reasons. For people that love music, the house comes equipped with Google home features, including a Google Assistant base station and Google home speakers in several rooms. The living room includes a traditional AM/FM radio and a turntable for your enjoyment. You can ask Google to play your "favorite songs" or "play music trivia" and other spoken requests. If you download the Hue app while at the house you can dim most of the lights and change the light colors to your favorite settings. For the entertainment guru, the house includes a 500+ DVD library with selections for adults and children, as well as Apple TV-enabled smart TVs where you can access a variety of streaming services including Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Disney Plus, and more (you will need to use your own subscriptions/passwords). For those that appreciate low-tech entertainment you can enjoy an antique edition of some of the classic novels in every room of the house, any of the other books in the house’s extensive collection, or puzzles and board games. Read a book in the tub and listen to music while you enjoy a peaceful view outside the window. Or settle down with the family for a game of Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Monopoly and more. The options to relax are endless. — Outside— One of the many attractions of coming to Maine is the outdoors. This area is blessed with a rich abundance of flora and fauna, around the property and beyond. You may see deer, wild turkeys, porcupines, foxes, any number of different bird species or more on property depending on the time of your visit. There a number of nearby wild and conservation areas with short hikes and walking paths where the variety of bird and wildlife viewing will satisfy any outdoor enthusiast. The house is surrounded by beautiful and mature gardens. In the spring and summer months a new flower or tree is blooming nearly every day. You'll find a Pear tree in the backyard that late summer has some really great tasting fruit. You're welcome to help yourself. On the back deck there is plenty of seating with lounge chairs and a couch, as well as a large outdoor dining table. Enjoy cooking on the propane grill on the back patio overlooking the large yard. The small pond and bridge at the far end of the yard is sometimes home to muskrats, ducks and other birds. Head to the garage to find outdoor games like Cornhole (bean bag toss), Bocci, Giant Jenga, Frisbees, Balls, Squirt guns and more. Take the bikes out for a spin to the Town of Surry Carrying Place public beach. It is a great view along the water and an easy ride. If you would like more of a beach experience, we would encourage you to visit Sand Beach in Acadia National Park. — Guest access — Guests have access to the entire property and the house. You will have access to all the amenities for your use while you stay at the house. — Other things to note — We love this area of Maine and have vacationed here for years. We loved the house and this location so much that we decided to buy it and share it with other families. The prior owners did an outstanding job setting it up for a great AirBnB experience, and we're working hard to provide the best experience possible.
