Description

Escape to our charming cottage in Bow, Washington, the perfect retreat for couples craving peace and nature. This one-bedroom, standalone haven offers a cozy bed dressed in French linens, a soaking tub, and a private dining porch. Wander through lush gardens and explore 32 acres of serene land alive with trees, flowers, and wildlife. Every detail is thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable, unforgettable stay, immersing you in the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding landscape. The space The Cottage is our smaller stay at House Kinlands, set on open farmland in Bow. It’s a place with a quiet kind of presence, intentionally simple, vintage in spirit, and designed for rest. Over the past two years of welcoming guests here, we’ve heard the same themes repeated again and again. People come for a true retreat away from the city and leave feeling restored. They talk about the calm, the privacy, the way the light moves through the space, and how quickly the cottage helps them exhale. So we’ve decided to let our guests, in a sense, describe what it feels like to stay here. Inside, the Cottage is thoughtfully layered without feeling cluttered. Guests often mention the vintage furnishings, antiques, and small details that make it feel more like a boutique hideaway than a typical rental. The bed and linen bedding are one of the most commented-on features, and many guests say they sleep better here than they do at home. The bath experience is also part of the stay, with quality soaps, lotions, and simple comforts that guests regularly call out as a highlight. The kitchen is well stocked for everyday meals and slow mornings, especially if you like keeping things simple and unfussy. Outside, the setting becomes part of the experience. You’re surrounded by wide Skagit Valley views, open sky, and the rhythms of the land. Guests love morning coffee on the patio, sunsets over the fields, and the constant presence of birds. Depending on the season you may hear snow geese in the distance, spot eagles, see swans in nearby fields, or watch frogs and songbirds around the pond and gardens. Many guests come with dogs and appreciate how easy it is to bring them into the experience, with space to wander and decompress. The Cottage is often chosen for couples weekends, solo retreats, creative resets, and small celebrations. It’s also a favorite home base for tulip season, Chuckanut hikes, Deception Pass, North Cascades adventures, or quick drives to Edison, Bow, La Conner, Anacortes, and Bellingham. It feels tucked away, but you’re never far from a good meal, a bakery stop, or a beautiful day trip. Important Notes & Tips: Location & Attractions Centrally located in the Skagit Valley, the cottage offers easy access to local highlights such as Samish Bay, Deception Pass, Oyster Dome Trail, Chuckanut Drive, and Larrabee State Park. The San Juan Ferry in Anacortes is just 25 minutes west, while Mount Vernon, Burlington, and the North Cascades Highway lie to the east. Bellingham is 35 minutes away, and Mount Baker Ski Resort is under two hours for skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. The area is a haven for nature enthusiasts. Watch bald eagles, herons, and hawks soaring above, while fields and waters come alive with ducks and Trumpeter swans. In the late fall and mid-spring, thousands of snow geese arrive, painting the sky in perfect formations. Their graceful movements and calls are unforgettable. Seasonal highlights include the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in April, farmer's markets from spring to fall, and community events like Race Week, the Highland Games, and Ski to Sea. Guest access Your stay includes access to the private cottage, designated parking, and the backyard, which offers great views for birdwatching. The larger two-story home and shed are not part of the rental, but the surrounding property is yours to explore. Other things to note Please note that public transportation, rideshare services, and food delivery options are very limited in the area. We recommend planning ahead to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay. Guest access The cottage sits on our 40-acre property, adjacent to the larger home we call the “Big House.” Your stay includes the cottage, parking area out front, and access to the backyard with stunning birdwatching views. The shed and the two-story home are not part of the rental. Other things to note Please know there is no public transportation, Uber or Lyft in the area. Doordash, UberEats, and Instacart are also limited.
