Hip, sun-filled Portland landmark lovingly restored by artist/writer. This classic 1870s four-square was the original Oakhurst dairy, in the prestigious Deering Highlands neighborhood, 5 minutes from PWM airport, Portland's downtown, Old Port, and renowned foodie and music scene, and walking/running distance to the village of Deering Center and the trails of Back Cove, Baxter Woods, and Evergreen Cemetery. Modern amenities, funky charm, and plenty of room, inside and out. Cows not included. The space Ideal for friends traveling together, families, business travelers, convention attendees or for a couple's romantic get away. The house has been modernized but retains its creaky-floor charm. It's a happy place with original art and orientals and premium mattresses and linens throughout. Inspired by Portland's great restaurants? Get cooking in the fully-equipped professional kitchen: cherry cabinets, granite counters, Kitchenaid Pro gas range, stainless prep island. And sharp knifes (careful!). Because this is my home, its use is for renters as a personal sanctuary and base from which to explore or work in this wonderful small city and surrounding areas only. It is not to be used for parties, reunions, weddings, wakes or other gatherings or functions that include groups of non-renting guests. If you have any doubts if your intended use is allowed, please ask before booking. No smokers (of any kind) or pets (of any kind) at all please. The house is less perfect for those who have difficulty with stairs or the slight hill of the drive and property. It is not child-proofed in any way and in all probability has lead paint. In the fall, expect leaves from the many oaks. Calm honeybees may be on the property. To be safe, those with sting allergies should look elsewhere. Other things to note Pricing: In an attempt to make my home as affordable as possible for smaller groups, I have built a slight surcharge for additional guests beyond four. TV: The house has a smart television with wifi access to your Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts. The television has basic news and weather channels, but it does not have cable. If you have a big game to watch, there is an iconic sports bar within walking distance.
