Description

Welcome to our renovated 1832 Log Cabin on the grounds of the George William Washington and Sarah Wright Washington 19th century plantation. The cabin was the first structure built. Then came barns and slaves’ quarters (no longer standing). The dairy barn is now a woodworking shop and the bank barn was recently restored. The main house, built in 1835, is Greek Revival style. Today, our 300+acre is Certified Organic. We border the South Branch of the Potomac River. It’s ALMOST HEAVEN ! The space Built in 1832, this 2 story log and chink structure may be a challenge for anyone over 6'5"... people were shorter back then! The 1st floor is an open concept space. Two comfy couches surround a stone fireplace with lots of room for gathering, relaxing, playing games, and watching movies on the Smart TV. Our kitchen boasts a large island, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, electric stove and modern appliances. Chat with the cook as you sit on a stool at the bar before eating around our handmade table inside or carrying your plate out to the porch or to the brick patio. Head upstairs to find a huge open space bedroom with vaulted ceiling, a California King bed, dresser, another comfy couch & 2nd Smart TV. Enjoy our 4' x 5' shower with bench seat and antique vanity. Whether you Float, Fish, or Frolic at the farm...our washing machine might come in handy, too. Guest access Our farm sits along the South Branch of the Potomac River. We share this stretch of the river with 30 camp lots, owned by friendly neighbors... and we respect each other's privacy. You'll have river access at the last lot (Lot 0) opposite our 40 acre fenced-in pasture. You can fish, swim, float or roast marshmallows at the fire pit. (A Friend who maintains the site for us and stores his personal property under the canopy might introduce himself. And we usually allow other Riverdale Acres property owners to put in for a float from this, the last lot. However, anyone from outside of this should not be using this Lot and no one should ever ask you to leave.) This is a working organic farm with many fields of crops, several barns, and outbuildings. These are not part of your Airbnb package. Depending on the season, we may be planting, cultivating, or harvesting. Please do not climb on any equipment or wander into any buildings without the owner's permission. Other things to note We have 300 acres, so feel free to walk around. Please stay to the edges of any fields and do not walk on crop land. Depending on the season and the time of day, you could see bear, skunk, raccoon, fox, turtle, turkey, deer, rabbit, coyote, eagle, owl and lots of birds and butterflies. Watch out for old fencing, uneven ground, and other hazards. You'll be walking at your own risk.
