Built in 1893, this beautifully refurbished farmhouse features 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, seamlessly blending historic character with modern comfort. Located just steps from the vibrant La Mesa Village, guests can easily explore the area’s top restaurants, inviting coffee houses, a winery, brewery, bookstores, a tea room, unique shops, and a bustling weekly farmers market. The space This bedroom is south and eastern facing. The first to get the morning sunlight. It has a queen bed, small TV, air conditioner, overhead fan , built in dresser and an antique armoire. It has a dedicated private bathroom specifically for this bedroom only a few steps down the hall. This bedroom is one of four bedrooms available for rent in the house. Guest access This is the guest bedroom however you have access to the living room, kitchen, dinning room and outdoor porches. Also available is the yard and outdoor dinning as well as off street parking and a tour of the historic Art Studio upon request. During your stay The owner, Julie, lives in the immediate neighborhood and is available to assist with any questions or needs that may arise. Available by text or phone. Other things to note There are two separate apartments contained within the Porter House that are long term, leased spaces. They could be occupied but they are not associated with nor have access to the Airbnb. One is located in the basement (small studio) at the rear of the house. The other is on the second floor of the house. Unfortunately, the house is not wheelchair accessible as the 2 entry areas are 14 steps up to the main doors. There is also a patio table set up for dining in the shaded yard. There is a large open area in front that is available for outdoor games. ( Check with the owner as to what is available) The original Porter family had an art studio built on the property as husband and wife were renowned artists, sculptor and painter, respectively. It is all still intact, complete with brushes, paints, sculptures, paintings, and other artifacts. It is available for viewing by request. Run by veteran La Mesan, Julie. A 35 year resident of the neighborhood, she is the new, proud owner of this historic hidden jewel of La Mesa. Until recently (March 2022), the home was owned by descendants of the Porters since 2005.
