However, as a private cottage (not a hotel or resort), we kindly ask for your understanding regarding minor imperfections. Despite our team's best efforts, occasional oversights such as light dust or missed debris can happen. If anything important has been missed, please contact us immediately and we’ll address it as quickly as possible. 🛑 Please note: Minor cleaning issues do not qualify for compensation. We strive to maintain high standards while keeping the property accessible and affordable for all guests. 🗑 Garbage Policy: • All garbage bins and waste must be emptied and removed from the property by guests at the end of their stay • Guests must bring and use only clear plastic garbage bags, as required by local disposal regulations • ❗ Failure to remove garbage will result in a $150 garbage handling and disposal fee. 💧 Additional Notes: • Well water is not potable – guests must bring drinking water • Games room outdoor doors are intentionally locked to prevent wildlife or garbage intrusion • Firewood not included – available locally for approx. $20–$25 per barrel 📍 Location: Located in beautiful Buckhorn, Ontario – just 2 hours from Toronto. Other things to note **📌 Important Information for Your Stay at Our Cottage – Please Read** ❄️ Winter Maintenance & Snow Removal ❄️ To ensure you have a safe and comfortable stay, please review our winter weather procedures: Driveway Plowing: ---------------------- The driveway is professionally contracted. The contractor’s schedule depends on local snowfall accumulation and their specific route. While we cannot control their exact arrival time, the driveway will be plowed according to our contract. Stairs and Entrances: -------------------------- We ensure that the stairs and main entrance are cleared and salted prior to your arrival. However, if it is actively snowing leading up to your check-in, or if it snows during your stay, ongoing clearing of the stairs and entrance for your safety and access is the guest's responsibility. ​For your convenience, we have provided tools located by the front entrance/front stairs: ​❄️Shovel: Located right by the entrance. ​❄️Salt & Sand: Located in the bin by the stairs. ​Please use these as needed to maintain your path and prevent ice buildup during your visit. Parking for the Plow: ------------------------- To ensure the contractor can clear the driveway effectively, please: * Park Closely Together: Park vehicles side-by-side or tucked to one side of the driveway. * Clear the Entrance: Avoid parking at the very end of the driveway near the road so the plow can enter easily. ❄️Stay warm and enjoy the winter scenery!❄️ Winterization Notice: Outdoor Amenities: ================================ ​Please be advised that all water sports equipment, the dock, and the deck furniture will be removed and stored for the winter starting in late October. ​After late October, these outdoor amenities will not be available for guest use. Bookings after this time should plan activities accordingly, as water access and equipment cannot be guaranteed. ​Thank you for your understanding. 🧼 Cleanliness & Turnover: --------------------------------- Our property is professionally cleaned before each stay. However, with limited time between check-ins and checkouts (especially during busy periods), minor details may occasionally be missed. If anything feels off, please contact us right away — we’re happy to send someone to resolve it promptly. 🐾 Pet Safety & Pest Control Disclaimer: ------------------------------------------------- The cottage is routinely serviced by a licensed pest control professional and company, following all provincial regulations. As a preventive measure, tamper-resistant rodent bait stations (in ministry-approved containers) are discreetly placed in utility and outdoor areas. Please note: 1) Bait stations are safe if left undisturbed and meet all health and environmental guidelines. 2) Do not touch, move, or tamper with the stations — it compromises safety and effectiveness. We assume no liability for pet interactions with pest control equipment. Guest discretion is strongly advised when bringing pets, especially if they roam freely, chew, or have known sensitivities. By bringing pets, guests accept full responsibility for their pet’s safety and acknowledge the risks of a rural setting. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all. ❄️ Fridge Use in Warmer Months: ----------------------------------------- In hot weather, fridges may struggle to keep cool, especially when overfilled. To ensure food stays safe: *Leave space between items for air circulation. *Avoid blocking internal vents. We’ve added a second full-size fridge for your convenience. Distribute items between both, and consider bringing a large cooler for bulk or overflow items, especially for larger groups. 🛁 Hot Tub Use: -------------------- Please avoid lifting the cover or using the hot tub for the first 12 hours after arrival, as we may have recently balanced or treated the water to ensure proper sanitation. 🧻 Supplies: ---------------- We provide a starter supply of essentials: Toilet paper, kitchen towels, hand/dish soap, linens, bedding, and towels. If your group is large or staying for an extended period, we recommend bringing extra supplies to suit your needs. During fast turnovers or early check-ins, we prioritize refreshing actively used linens first. Stored/spare linens may not always be rewashed unless used — thanks for your understanding. 🔥 Propane BBQ: --------------------- Enjoy the BBQ during your stay! We keep three propane tanks on-site, with at least one full at all times. If one is empty, try the others or contact us for assistance. 💡 Please bring a BBQ lighter — it’s also needed for the fire pit. A fire starter will help get the fire going more easily. 🕹️ Games Room: ---------------------- The outdoor doors in the games room are intentionally locked to prevent animals and garbage from entering. Thank you for your understanding. 🪑 General Wear & Tear: ------------------------------ While we maintain the property to a high standard, normal wear and tear (like a loose knob or faded patio cushion) may be visible. If anything needs fixing, please let us know during your stay — we’ll take care of it. ⚡ Power Usage Advisory: -------------------------------- Please do not use cottage outlets to charge or power high-draw devices, including: 1) Electric vehicles (EVs) 2) E-bike or scooter batteries 3) Electric heaters or A/C units 4) Large cooking devices (e.g., hot plates, deep fryers) These exceed the capacity of the system and may cause outages or damage. If unsure, ask us first. 🚭 Smoking: ---------------- This is a non-smoking property. Improvised ashtrays or remnants may be from previous guests who ignored the policy. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a clean and fresh space. 🗑️ Garbage Disposal: --------------------------- Guests are responsible for removing garbage at the end of their stay.
