Château de Craon, is inspired by Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon, borrows its ode to nature and carefully preserves furniture that once belonged to the eponymous queen. The goddess Flora watches over the château and its immense grounds of over 116 acres. Château de Craon is also, above all, a family home handed down from generation to generation, where a typically Anjou gentle way of life reigns that the owners are happy to share with visitors. it is nicknamed ‘the little Versailles " The space "It's a bit like Versailles in here ! Once through the entrance gates, visitors take the shady path leading to the château, discovering this treasure trove of 18th-century architecture. Inspired by Marie-Antoinette's Petit Trianon, the Château de Craon has been dubbed the "Little Versailles of the Mayenne" The goddess Flora watches over the château and its immense grounds of over 47 hectares. The French-style garden set in the grounds of the château, the immense English-style park surrounding the château and bordered by the River Oudon, passing by the wash-house and the ice-house, the large walled vegetable garden covering more than a hectare, the ponds reminiscent of Le Nôtre's gardens and inhabited by ducks and geese, the animals in the park and the 6 km of paths lined with trees over a hundred years old make for a delightful stroll. Nestling in the historic Haut Anjou region, it's the perfect place to enjoy a “timeless” experience, to dream, relax and take in the tranquillity and beauty of the surroundings. During your stay Château de Craon is a family home inhabited all year round by the owner and his family. Other things to note The restaurant is within walking distance. Breakfast is served in the château's large dining room and is prepared using local produce from neighbouring farms. The jams are homemade using fruit from the château's kitchen garden.
