Guest Home on Historic Horse Farm
Guest Home on Historic Horse Farm
Description
Relax and unwind with the spacious areas this home has to offer, both inside and out. It is located on a working horse farm in the renowned Bluegrass region of Ky. It is a farm, and you are welcome to stroll the property and visit with the animals over the fence. The KY Horse Park is a 22 minute drive, Lexington is 25 minutes and you are 30 minutes from Keeneland Race Track. Even with the remote feel you are only 1 mile from Walmart, shops, and downtown Paris. The space There is lots of space to spread out with the two master suites at one end of the home and 2 bedrooms with 2 twin beds at the opposite end. One master suite has a bathtub with a shower handle, and the other one a stand in shower. The living area in the middle offers a huge kitchen and dining room if you prefer to cook and dine in. The home offers a tv and a comfortable setting for hanging out. This home is best suited for two couples or a family with children. It does sit next to a cottage with two bedrooms as well. It is currently rented through June, but is typically available if you need more space. The back porch has a weber grill and camp chairs to enjoy the outdoor setting. You are more than welcome to walk around the 88 acre farm. We ask that you please don’t feed the animals but they love getting petted! **Need more space? Houstondale Farm has other properties available for rent** If you’d like to use the rollaway bed, it is an additional $25 per person per night. We will automatically charge if we see that the rollaway beds have been used. As you walk up the drive to the main 1840's home you can see the pool in the back by the white pool house. It is a .18 walk / drive to the pool area. There is a grill and an outdoor cooler for your use as well. Just remember - no glass. Plastic serving ware is available at the house that you are more than welcome to use. Currently the pool is not heated and will be open to the public from the end of May to Labor Day weekend. Guest access Outside your door you will find a working horse farm that breeds warmbloods specifically for the sport of dressage. You are welcome to walk around and see all the horses, sheep, and Great Danes. However, we do ask that you not feed the animals or enter the pastures, paddocks, or stalls. The horses love attention, so I think you will find once they see you, they will jaunt over to the fence for some love. The pool is open 8:00am - 3:45pm Memorial Day to Labor Day, and closed all day on Sundays for our farm family. Thank you for understanding. Other things to note There is a pool available during your stay throughout the summer months. It is a little bit of a walk from this home as it’s located in the middle of the farm, and there is Jo restroom there, so plan accordingly. Pool hours are from 9-3:30 Monday through- Friday. It is the same on Saturday unless there is the rare occasion of a booked event on that side of the farm. Pool is closed on Sundays. We ARE a drug free / smoke free / vape free property. There is an additional cleaning fee should the smell of smoke or equipment be found in the house. We do not accept pets, as much as we love animals! We have lost sheep and a young horse due to guests dogs, so we had to make this adjustment for the protection of our own livestock and peacefulness of the farm. Do you have extra people? There is a $25 per person per night fee if you need to use the rollaways. However, this home is located next to our cottage making it a great option if you need to spread out, yet still be close. There are four homes total on the property available for rent. There is much to do in the Bluegrass. There are horse farms and distilleries and historic places to be explored. From our location it's a gorgeous drive to the distilleries if you are interested in the Bourbon Trail, or we are just across town from Claiborne Farm where Secretariat is laid to rest. I suggest taking some of the backroads to get a feel for the area. We can help point you in the right direction if you need any information. There are a few games and books in the house for your enjoyment.
