Soon after the house was completed Kate left Chicago for Crested Butte to meet her soon to be new husband. We purchased and restored the home in the early 70's and have added additional updates every few years. We use the home ourselves and work hard to keep it in tip top shape for you and for our family. Kate's Place is located in the historic district...a charming area to take a walk and enjoy all the restored homes. We are a short block off the main street where you can buy a great cup of coffee, visit a book store, restaurants, and shops of all kinds. Great for people watching. On Sunday visit the farmers market and art booths just 4 blocks away. Large park a few blocks down the street for kids and picnics with a full view of the mountains. Hiking and bike trails begin at the end of the block in either direction. This is a family neighbor safe for kids and adults with the local speed limit 15 mph. Lakes and rivers in the area offer paddle boarding, rafting, kayaking and other water sports. Rental equipment is available. At night the stars fill the sky with light and during the day you can sit in the yard and enjoy the mountain views. And you are only a block from the best homemade ice cream at the Third Bowl! CB is a biking town with kids, babies, teens, families and seniors all using a bike to enjoy Crested Butte. Rent one in town or bring your own. On Monday nights all summer enjoy music in the park, bring dinner or purchase it at the event. On Wed. night it's music on the mountain. With plays, art shows, wine tastings, book readings, movie nights, painting and art lessons, every and so much more you can be as busy as you choose. Free shuttle bus runs from the town (3 bus stop locations) to the mountain ski center every 15 min. from 6 am until 12:30 PM. Our bus stop is just a half block away. Room on the bus for ski's, ski boards, & in spring, summer and fall bikes too! Need a ride to a hike or bike ride located off a 4 wheel road but don't have a car...no problem. Rent a jeep or hire a van to take you and your group and then pick you back up. Kate's Place is one block from main street and all the shops and great eating and drinking establishments. We are a block from the free shuttle bus to the mountain and just blocks from wonderful trails. Kate's is Smoke free and pet free. The club at Crested Butte offers a Robert Trent Jones Golf course, Blue Mesa, the largest body of water in Colorado is only 40 mins. away. Tennis is two blocks away, ski, snowboard, mountain bike trails and hiking...a few minutes away. Spas, exercise classes and yoga...we have it all.
