You can’t get any closer to the ocean! This is special. This is where artists are inspired. If you love nature and need quiet, calm and anonymity, look no further. The sunsets are unrivaled. Hike the preserve. Stare at the ever-changing ocean. Lobster boats come right up close to our pink granite, deep water frontage. No mudflats here. Floor -to -ceiling glass in the cozy cottage gives the illusion of being on a boat. Easy access to the island by bridge. Come breathe! It’s a beautiful little cottage perched just above the Atlantic on smooth, pink, granite ledges. There’s well thought-out spaces and storage, reminiscent of a boat builder’s design. Entire cottage. Please keep in mind that this is not a “rental property.” This is our heart. This is a place with a history that we respect. We hope to retire here. But until our boys finish school and make their own way, we are dabbling in this Airbnb business. We know the rate is low for what it offers. I have finally added a fair cleaning fee this year. I do it all myself because I want to know that it meets my standards. (I don’t just clean the linens. Blankets and comforters too! ) And I won’t ask you to clean, because you’re on vacation! We may regret some of these decisions. But we feel very fortunate to have been able to acquire this place and want to share it with others who will appreciate it. Have a wonderful time! NO campers or vans. The cottage is setup for TWO adults. That’s it. Our neighbors are wonderful and I want them to stay happy. This property abuts a spectacular garden that welcomes visitors. You can walk to the trail heads of the Great Wass Island Preserve as well as the Downeast Institute where important marine research happens. You will want a car. There are no restaurants or stores on island. Bikes are fun. Kayaks too. (Launching at the Town dock or beach is recommended as our frontage is steep and current is wacky.) If you are looking for nightlife, this is not for you. This is for nature lovers and for those who want quiet and who can entertain themselves. There is no wifi (Gasp!) but cell service is solid. The library on the mainland is a lifesaver if you need wi-fi. (Four miles away.) There is no television. (What the…?) You won’t want to look away from the ocean. Our frontage is spectacular but potentially dangerous. Be careful. For easier swimming there is a gorgeous beach at the town park. And a spectacular one in Jonesport.
