Pet-friendly, Centrally located MCM Charmer
Description
Centrally located and lovingly decorated. This house is our fulltime home when we're in Yakima, and we share it with our two dogs. Location is walking distance to some restaurants, groceries, parks, and a quick drive/uber to downtown Yakima. Easily accessible to local wineries and breweries. Our house comfortably sleeps 6, but we have an aero bed and several couches so if you have a larger group than 8, send us a message with your ideal group size and if we can, we will happily accommodate. The space To be clear, this is our home where we live 100% of the time while in Yakima, and which we rent out when we are out of town. Our home is a work in progress, but we have been steadily putting in the time to get it a little closer to our original vision back when we first walked through it in 2021. Our home was built in 1954 and much of it is original – some of it is beautiful and some of it is on the to-do list in the next year. Over the past few years, we’ve hosted families, dogs, folks from all over the world – some for months, some for weeks, and some for just hours. We have really enjoyed being able to open our home and make it a place where people connect, relax, play some games, eat good food and drink good wine and beer – if that’s what they’re into. My partner, Jesse, and I live here with our two dogs (Rhodesian Ridgeback and half Ridgeback/half shepherd mix), Tony and Slim Dusty. This house is pet friendly; however, we ask that you keep dogs out of the pink bedroom and off the living room couch as we try to keep those spaces as dog-free as possible. There are several dog beds and a dog door so if you bring your dog and they’re comfortable, it’s a nice feature. Our back yard is fully fenced, but there may be some spaces where a dog that was inclined to escape could jump or dig under a fence. A few of our favorite things: the view of Mt. Clemens, the balcony when the string lights are on, getting a fire started and having a fireside night cap, all the light that is dappled all over the house throughout the day. Having dinner in the sunken patio with a big group of friends, or a fire in the solo stove. The front of the house is east facing and gets beautiful morning light, and the backside features large, picture windows that face west so nearly every day we get a front row seat to the sunset. The size is nice and feels like there is always somewhere you can escape to when you need to get work done, and there is lots of space for hosting. The house has a private study with a laptop stand and dock so that you can work on a large monitor, if required. Our house is centrally located and (in my opinion) the best location in town to get to friends, restaurants, breweries, wineries, and other activities. Like I said, our house is a work in progress and there are many projects to complete. We hope that you will consider that when staying here and remember that this is where we live. We didn’t purchase this to rent it out and it is not typical to most rentals for that reason. Everything you have access to in our home is something we and our guests use in our everyday. The kitchen is well stocked and the house is private, making it perfect for a family or a group of friends hoping to enjoy a personal stay in Yakima. Guest access Guests will have full access to the entire house, ordinarily our primary residence. It has all of the amenities you'd expect from a house which is normally lived in. Other things to note The house has fast and reliable WiFi throughout, with a sonos system that will provide music in most rooms and even outside by the firepit. Nearby attractions: we love walking our dogs along the Powerhouse Canal path just behind the nearby elementary school. The path leads to Chesterley Park, the YMCA, and Fred Meyer. The house is also walking distance to Safeway, Tokki-ya – our favorite restaurant, and The Planted Home (combo coffeeshop and plant shop). There are several parks that are walkable from our home and to get downtown is a quick 3-5 minute drive.
