Description

Escape to a rustic log cabin with the soul of an English cottage, tucked into 10 wooded acres of Vermont countryside. A four-guest hideaway with a cottage garden, a cast iron clawfoot soaking tub on the covered porch, a fire pit carved into the hillside, snowshoes for winter wandering, and all the comforts of home in a setting that feels like it belongs to another century. 22 minutes from Sugarbush, 20 from Mad River Glen, 39 from Stowe. The space Inside the solid log cabin — built with tongue-and-groove square-cut logs — the aesthetic is light, botanical, and carefully considered. Sheer white curtains, a sage sectional sofa with botanical throw pillows, and open wooden shelving with books and ceramics fill the space. A driftwood sunburst on the wall, a freestanding electric fireplace for cold evenings, and a Roku TV with guest mode complete the living area. The main bedroom has a queen bed dressed in crisp white linens with teal botanical accent pillows, warm ceramic bedside lamps, and a gallery wall of Vermont landscape photographs and prints. A shed antler mount, a carved vintage chair, and an antique luggage rack give the room a collected, unhurried feeling. A small writing desk and chair sit in the bedroom for anyone working remotely. Above, a loft accessed by ladder sleeps two more on twin beds tucked under exposed pine beams — a sheepskin rug on the floor, a vintage trunk between the beds, and framed wildlife prints on the walls. Cozy for friends or older kids looking for their own perch. The covered porch is a destination in itself. A cast iron clawfoot soaking tub sits styled with sheer curtains and a wood side table, available seasonally when there's no risk of freezing — a genuinely one-of-a-kind Vermont experience. Step outside and the cottage garden unfolds around you: wildflowers, lupines, gravel paths, a birdbath, and a picnic area tucked into the treeline. In summer this property is extraordinary. Out front, a large fire pit is carved into the hillside with round log seating. Firestarters and a lighter are provided — firewood is available for purchase locally. A gas grill is available for most of the year. In winter, grab the two pairs of snowshoes and head into the back woods. The full kitchen features hickory cabinetry, black appliances, and a hanging pot rack — fully stocked with everything you'll need. A farmhouse dining table with vintage chairs seats four. Heat and A/C are handled by two mini-split systems. A washer and dryer, iron, and hair dryer are available. We provide 100% cotton sheets, full towels, and all bathroom and kitchen essentials. A drip coffee maker with complimentary coffee, tea, creamers, and sugar is ready and waiting. High speed Wi-Fi throughout. Guest access The cabin is accessed via keypad — your door code will be sent prior to arrival. A Ring doorbell is located at the front door if you need to reach us directly. The cabin and surrounding 10 wooded acres are entirely yours for your stay — feel free to roam the back woods freely. Please be aware the property is narrow, so you may wander onto neighboring land; neighbors are friendly and this is not a concern. Parking is at the cabin and accommodates two cars. Note that in winter, snowpack can make the parking area tight for two vehicles. Other things to note The cabin is accessed via a town-maintained dirt road followed by a short shared private road maintained collectively by neighbors. The roads are easy to navigate in summer and good conditions. In winter (December through March) expect snowpack and occasional icy patches — we strongly recommend AWD or 4WD and snow tires or quality all-season tires. Most guests with appropriate vehicles have no issues. If conditions are severe on arrival day, there is a spot nearby where one car can be left and the cabin reached on foot — roughly a quarter mile uphill walk. Full details are included in your pre-arrival message after booking. During Vermont's mud season (typically late March through early May), dirt roads in Duxbury can become soft and rutted. AWD is again helpful during this period. Parking at the cabin accommodates two cars. Note that in winter, snowpack can make the parking area tight for two vehicles. This is a strictly pet-free property. We maintain this standard to ensure every guest arrives to a clean, hair-free, allergen-free space. We conduct thorough inspections between every stay. Undisclosed pets will result in an additional deep-cleaning fee charged through Airbnb's resolution center and may affect your guest standing. A pack-and-play is available in the utility room for families with infants — please bring your own crib bedding. A loft ladder guard is on hand if you'd prefer to limit loft access.
