Experience a memorable stay in a 100yo Fire Station! Perfect for couples, families, groups and adventure seekers. Located halfway between Cleveland and Sandusky. Just a block to Lake Erie and minutes to Lakeview Beach, The Shipyards and Black River Landing. 35 minutes to Cedar Point. Whether you are in the area for a wedding, walleye fishing, beach vacation, Rockin' on the River or a Cedar Point visit, Firehouse 401 is a unique, cozy stay. Also available for special events- please inquire! Firehouse 401 breathes new life into a bit of Lorain's past! Originally built in 1919, the structure served as a station for Lorain Fire Department's Hose Company 4 aka "Fighting Four's" for 100 years! Firehouse 401 is located in a residential neighborhood, just a quick walk to Lake Erie and conveniently located halfway between Sandusky and Downtown Cleveland. Just steps away from Lakeview Beach, The Shipyards, Black River Landing, Downtown Lorain, The Ford Plant, Restaurants, Marinas, boat ramps and beautiful sunsets at Mile-Long Pier. Firehouse 401 is available to be reserved as a vacation rental up to 12 and also available for special events (please inquire with details of your event prior to booking) We are very family and fisherman friendly. There is ample parking onsite, both in front of and behind the building, plenty of space for boats and RV's. The main cabinet is well-stocked with plenty of games, toys and additional fun items like a karaoke machine and laser tag. We also offer kids dress-up items, play tents, and beach items. Baby gear is also available upon request. The original firehouse did not include a fireman pole, yet we added one for a fun photo opportunity. (Feel free to try the firefighter uniform on!) The upstairs bedroom features two queen beds, an XL twin, a bottom bunk (full) and top (twin), sleeping 8. The sleeper sofa in the living room offers a bed for 2 more and alternative mattresses are also available for larger groups. Firehouse 401 is technically just a 1-bedroom, yet the downstairs sleeper couch and upstairs blackout curtain/room divider offer three different privacy options. Large flat screen tv's are located throughout Firehouse 401 in the living room, kitchen and bedroom. It's a great place to watch a big game! The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking need, offering a coffee bar. Laundry is onsite. The bathroom and shower are separate, ideal for larger groups. There is both a front and back porch, plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. Have any questions? Feel free to reach out! Guests will have full access to both floors of the living quarters of the fire house. The use of Firehouse 401 is only for you and the guests you register. All guests must be registered. If you wish to host a larger special event, please reach out to discuss with us prior to booking. Your check-in will be via the keypad and lock box. We are very responsive hosts so are available if needed. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns during your stay. Our phone numbers are listed onsite. We want to make sure you have an amazing stay so are happy to give you tips and/or suggestions on the best ways to enjoy the area, if you'd like. Feel free to reach out with any questions! Located in a quiet, residential neighborhood. One block from Lake Erie and minutes from marinas, restaurants, beaches, playgrounds, The Palace Theater, and Downtown Lorain. 35 minutes from Cedar Point and Downtown Cleveland. Plenty of parking! The house is located in a residential area. A convenience store with quick bites to eat is within walking distance. We've had guests walk to Lakeview Beach. Regardless, there is much to do within a 5-minute drive. Firehouse 401 breathes new life into a bit of Lorain's past! Originally built in 1919 the structure served as a station for Lorain Fire Department's Hose Company 4 aka "Fighting Four's" for 100 years! In 2021 the firehouse was purchased by a retired firefighter and his wife, with the intent to restore the building to its former glory. In doing so, the building underwent a major transformation of the building's interior while leaving a handful of original aspects for charm. Historical Lorain Fire photos and memorabilia are displayed throughout the accommodation. The newly named "Firehouse 401" welcomed guests for the first time in June 2022. It has since had visitors from all across the United States, in town enjoying a beach vacation, fishing trip, nearby wedding and/or Cedar Point trip. 99% of our guests have rated it a 5-star! Regardless, it's guaranteed to be a special stay.
