Beautiful Thatched Cottage @ Longleat

Idyllic thatched cottage on the doorstep of Longleat Safari Park. Escape the hustle and bustle of modern life while cosily nestled in the Cranborne Chase area of outstanding natural beauty. The space Perched atop Rowes Hill the only thing that disturbs the peace here is the glorious birdsong. You can often count the traffic passing by on one hand. An abundance of nature with the forest only 50m up the hill and wonderful views let you recharge your batteries and let go of the fast lane. The house is a period 17th century thatched chocolate box of a cottage yet it is surprisingly spacious - having originally been two cottages and a barn and it also has some contemporary touches. It has 3-4 bedrooms - three of which are available to guests (we use the third to store our belongings). Two are conventional bedrooms and the the third is an optional simple bedroom space in the mezzanine located in the barn room. The cottage has a beautiful and large private garden that is full of apple trees, giant beech trees a trampoline and zip wire. It's a homely place where you can relax and be informal. It is an historic building and is rustic in parts, but people tell us they have the best sleep they've ever had and love the setting. Bedroom one has an Emma double mattress with memory foam topper and a choice of pillows. All the linen is freshly laundered and is 200 thread count cotton. We think a comfortable sleep is really important and are happy to tweak your room to suit you. Bedroom two is a little more cosy with a low ceiling but can still accommodate two single beds. It comes with a single bed as standard but there is a another pull out single bed stored underneath that allows two people to sleep comfortably. Bedroom three is a simple but very romantic space located on the mezzanine in the barn room. it comes with a Zommos mattress that can be adjusted to your ideal firmness and makes for a memorable night. Due to its location this bedroom is only recommended for adults or older teens for safety reasons. As it is an unconventional bedroom we list it as an 'optional' space for you to use if you choose (at your own risk) at no extra cost. We have stated that the cottage has capacity for 6 people but are only basing our price on 4 people. You'll also have access to the fabulous country kitchen complete with aga (not connected in summer), the equally spacious barn lounge full of sofas and delicious woodburner. And then there's the large and beautiful garden with gorgeous views. There is a simple country cottage bathroom with an old cast iron bathtub and another toilet located downstairs. Guest access Guests can access all areas except for one locked bedroom Other things to note The simple bathroom has a vintage cast iron bath in which you can have a long and delicious soak but there isn't a shower. Check in and check out times can be more flexible if we have availability. The house is our family home and isn't a pristine holiday cottage. This makes it very homely, but there will also be our belongings there and some of our items in the fridge and freezer (but there's lots of space). The barn room carpet has some marks and is scheduled to be replaced. Basically it's not at all perfect - but it is a very special place nonetheless.
