Enjoy our 15 ft private sandy beach, swim in the crystal-clear water, and use our canoe and kayak for sunset paddles. Fall: This is the time for cozy relaxation. Take in stunning foliage views, go hiking or apple picking, and end the day gathered around the fire pit. Winter: Experience a snow-filled wonderland. Ski, snowshoe, or cross-country ski, then come home to a warm, inviting cabin. The space Welcome to The Bear House! Escape to our quintessential lakefront cabin, where casual relaxation meets year-round adventure. This cozy retreat is nestled in a tranquil wooded setting on the shores of crystal-clear Highland Lake. With an open-concept design and a wall of windows, the cabin is filled with natural light and offers stunning, panoramic views of the water and woods from the moment you step inside. The main living area is a hub for connection, featuring comfortable seating and a large dining area perfect for family meals or spreading out to play a board game from our well-stocked game cabinet. The beautiful spiral staircase leads to the loft, a dream space for kids and large groups with multiple beds. Step outside to your own slice of paradise. The cabin boasts a small private sandy beach that gradually slopes into the water, making it perfect for little ones and pets to splash around. The expansive dock is a favorite spot for sunbathing, a morning cup of coffee, or simply watching the loons glide by. Our shed or "toy box" is full of fun, with a kayak, canoe, floats, bocce, and more for endless hours on the water. Perfect for a Fall Getaway: As the air turns crisp, the surroundings burst with color. The lake views become a backdrop to a breathtaking display of fall foliage. This is the perfect time for hiking, leaf-peeping, and cozying up inside for a game night. You're just a short, scenic drive from the famous White Mountains and the charming town of North Conway, NH, for all your fall adventures. Other Things to Note (The "Pros" & "Cons") What Our Guests Love (Pros): The Location: A peaceful, private setting with a quiet neighborhood, yet only 5 minutes from downtown Bridgton and a short, scenic 30-minute drive to North Conway. The Vibe: Our cabin is truly "cozy" and "homey." Guests often comment on the beautiful views and the tranquil, relaxing atmosphere. The Amenities: The cabin is exceptionally well-equipped with a stocked kitchen, plenty of games, books, and all the lake gear you need to have fun. Pet-Friendly: Many of our guests have had wonderful stays with their dogs, who love running and playing on the private beach. Festive Fun: In the month of December, the cabin is decorated for Christmas, creating a magical and festive holiday experience. A Few Things to Keep in Mind (The "Cons"): Bathroom: There is one basic bathroom with a smaller shower. It's functional and serves its purpose, but it's not a spa-like experience. We want to be transparent so you can plan accordingly! Winter Travel: While the location is great for skiing, we highly recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle in the snow for easy access to the cabin's secluded dirt road.
