Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape, 'Far From The Madding Crowd’. Set in the heart of the iconic Thomas Hardy’s Blackmore Vale, the Shepherd’s Hut provides the perfect setting to unwind, relax and soothe the soul. The internationally renowned Todber fishing Lakes are a short stroll away. Dorset’s stunning Jurassic coastline is 45 minutes’ drive away. Closer to home are the historic towns of Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton and Sherborne. Numerous Farm shops and pubs are close by. The space The shepherd's hut has a well equipped kitchenette which includes a gas hob, small gas oven and fridge. Washing up liquid, salt and pepper, tea, coffee, sugar and olive oil is provided. The shepherd's hut has a Hobbit wood burner for colder weather. The day bed pulls out to make a comfortable queen sized double bed. Above the double bed is a fold away pipe cot (used on boats and similar to a hammock). The table folds up to make a small single bed (190 cm long). There is an ensuite bathroom with a shower cubicle. Bedlinen and towels are provided, along with hand wash, shampoo and shower gel. French doors open out to a deck with table and chairs. Below the deck is an Indian Fire bowl (perfect for barbecuing and/or toasting marshmallows, whilst star gazing). The shepherd's hut is set in a 1.5 acre paddock along with our second shepherd's hut. The paddock is shared with our goats and chickens. There is an outdoor above ground swimming pool which despite not being heated is popular with our guests. Guest access Guests have access to the paddock and swimming pool. Other things to note We supply kindling and wood for the wood burner and can provide wood for the Indian Fire Bowl at an additional cost of £7.00 per trug.
