The Nutshed

Welcome to the Nutshed. Enjoy birdsong and the peace and quiet of the country at our three bedroom “Nutshed”, named because it overlooks our Eastern Bay of Plenty lifestyle block planted in almond, hazelnut, macademia and walnut trees. Like its location, it’s a little rustic but very spacious, comfortable and well-equipped with modern facilities – perfect for friends and families to enjoy a getaway together. The space There is a large open-plan kitchen, living, dining area that opens via range sliders to a concrete outdoor entertaining area for summer dining. Along with the main lounge, there is a smaller upper lounge for relaxing with a book or listening to music. This room includes a pull-out couch to accommodate extra guests. The kitchen is well-equipped with cooktop, oven and convection microwave. A large heat pump heats/cools the living areas and into the bedrooms. There are three bedrooms off the central hallway. A main bedroom with queen size bed and views to Mt Putauaki on a good day, a second bedroom with queen size bed and king single bed with trundler, and a third bedroom with bunks (double on bottom), a king single bed with trundler, and another single bed. The second and third bedrooms overlook the gardens. Please note, there are no electric blankets on the beds. There are two bathrooms and an open laundry with washing machine and dryer. Other things to note This house is located about 100 metres further up the driveway from the host’s house. Although private, your peace and quiet may be occasionally interrupted by the sounds of normal lifestyle block activities – mainly the ride-one mower keeping the grass down in the orchards or the neighbour’s cows. If you want to go walking around the property, you can expect your footwear to get dirty/wet, depending on the weather. And this is the country so there are insects (flies, spiders, ants, midgies) depending on the season and the weather. There’s plenty of parking for vehicles, boats and other toys you may have. It’s 5 minutes’ drive to Thornton Beach and Matatā, 15 minutes to Whakatāne, 20 minutes to Ōhope and 45 minutes to Tauranga and Rotorua. While the inside of this house has been finished ready for guests, the garden and surrounds are a work in progress and will change over time.
