Description

Tucked on a forest hilltop 12km from Kathmandu, our peaceful earthbag attic home invites deep rest. Enjoy the glass conservatory for meditation or relax on the deck above a lush food forest. Rooted in simplicity, a labor of love made for stillness; wake to birdsong, sip tea with Himalayan views, or wander forest trails. Perfect for slow days, soft silence, and fresh air. Fast WiFi & pickups available. Let go, unwind, and recharge in our unique sanctuary 40 mins from the city. Total peace. The space The Architecture of Peace Our unique Earthbag attic home sits quietly on a forested hilltop in Godavari, just 12km from the Kathmandu city center. Built as a labor of love using natural materials, the house is a "breathable" sanctuary. It is a space designed for rest, reflection, and reconnection with the earth. The Heart of the Property Guests are consistently drawn to the Glass Conservatory. This light-filled room is the soul of the house—a private sanctuary for morning meditation, journaling, or simply watching the forest canopy. Step outside onto the spacious wooden deck that hangs over our maturing Food Forest. Here, birds and butterflies are your only neighbors. It is the ultimate spot to sip sunrise tea or watch the dramatic mist roll through the valley, obscuring the city below and leaving you in total stillness. A Kitchen for Slow Living For those who find therapy in cooking, our kitchen is a cozy, well-equipped haven. We believe in the ritual of a good meal, so we’ve provided: Pro-gear: Sharp knives, sturdy cast iron cookware, and a French press or Moka pot for your morning coffee. Local Flavors: Stocked with Himalayan pink salt, cold pressed mustard oil, organic spices, and a selection of Nepali shade grown organic coffee, Ilam teas and herbal blends. The Vibe: A small library of curated books sits nearby perfect for a "slow afternoon" in a sun-drenched nook. Work & Wellness While we encourage a "digital detox," we understand the needs of the modern traveler. We provide high-speed fiber-optic WiFi, making the conservatory an inspiring "office in the clouds" for writers and remote professionals. Nature at Your Doorstep The surrounding Kot Village area is a paradise for forest bathing. You can hike or cycle along the southern ridge of the Kathmandu Valley, offering some of the best-hidden views. And for those craving stillness—this is a place to simply be. Laze in a hammock, nap under a tree, or breathe in the pristine air that the city often lacks. Seamless Arrival To ensure your transition from the hustle to the hush is easy, we can arrange private transportation from the airport or anywhere in Kathmandu. Come as you are—and stay as slow as you like! Guest access The entire earthbag home and its surroundings are yours to enjoy in total privacy. This includes the glass conservatory, the attic sleeping area, the fully-equipped kitchen, and the spacious deck. You are also encouraged to wander through our maturing food forest and explore the garden. Since we are on a hilltop, you have direct access to the forest trails starting right from our doorstep—perfect for morning walks or sunset strolls. Other things to note For guests planning to book between December and February, please note that this is winter in Nepal, and the property can feel quite cold for those unaccustomed to colder climates. While we do not have a central heating system, we provide warm blankets, hot water bags, and three small heaters for your comfort. Additionally, there is a small geyser water heater system, which also supplies hot water to the kitchen. However, please be aware that these heating amenities are basic and not luxurious. For guests planning to book between June to September, please note that is monsoon season in Nepal, hence, the road /trails leading to the property can be slushy and slightly slippery. We do have few umbrellas at the property but do have some rain gears, if you plan to visit / hike in the area. Our bedroom is in a top loft with a low zinc roof, so heavy rain can be quite loud. Some guests find this soothing, others may find it noisy. We also have single beds on the ground floor. Rain usually decreases after August.
