The Loft: A rustic city hideaway

This memorable place is anything but ordinary. Located in the leafy suburb of New Europa, The Loft is less than 3km from the Maseru city center yet highly tranquil as though you're deep in the Lesotho countryside. Rustic in style with its thatched roof and tree-branch staircase, this space is ideal for the travelling businessperson or anyone looking for a relaxed stay in Maseru. Within the property are two ponds- one located in the heart of the yard and the other, much larger one, at the perimeter, shared with three other neighbours. The smaller one is populated with a wide array of ducks, and is often visited by other wild birds. The spacious yard plays host to swallows, robins and other birdlife, making it a birdwatcher's dream. The space is cool and shaded in the summertime, but has a high mosquito population so make sure to pack some repellant. The winters are bitterly cold, due to the natural Lesotho climate, coupled with the multiple bodies of water surrounding the property- the fact that we're in a valley also doesn't help as the sun takes a while to reach the yard and warm it up. The rooms are however very warm and cosy during this time, making it a treat to be indoors and snug. Given that the space is within a working b&b, there does tend to be a wedding or event of some sort every now and then. This is strictly a day time occurrence and all events end promptly at 7, but it can be an inconvenience if you're looking to have a quiet afternoon in. The property has CCTV cameras and a night guard. There is also a patrolling neighbourhood watch, which makes the area incredibly safe. Guest access The yard has a lapa (entertainment area) overlooking the smaller pond, which guests are free to enjoy along with the adjacent braai/barbeque area. There is also a lovely green lawn for picnicking with ample of shade.
