Studio Retreat: close to shops, transport, beaches

Enjoy some time out in this centrally located Studio Retreat just 4 minutes drive to Charlestown Shopping Centre, 5 minutes to Dudley Beach and 10 minutes from Newcastle City Centre. This is simple and relaxing accommodation with an exquisitely comfortable bed and lovely district views; a space to rejuvenate after indulging in all that Newcastle has to offer - shops, cafes and stunning beaches. Your host is a yoga teacher/massage therapist and can offer treatments/private class on request. The space The studio has a wall-bed with a custom-built mattress for optimum comfort. There is a small kitchenette featuring a drinks fridge, kettle, toaster and sink. There are no cooking facilities, however you can expect crockery, cutlery, tea/coffee, etc - the same kind of amenities as you'd find in a hotel room. The bathroom is lovely with Italian stone tiling and Indonesian lava basin. All linen, including sheets and towels, is provided and laundry facilities are available upon request. Guest access The studio is in the backyard behind our house. Access is via a walk up a short, steepish driveway, past our house and then half a flight of stairs to the studio, which is in the backyard. The studio is not visible from the house, nor the house visible from the studio, owing to an enclosed undercover roof. There are sensor lights that can be turned on or off, but it is probably best to leave them on to ensure easy access at night. Blackout blinds will mean this won't disturb sleep if they are triggered by a possum or the wind :) Other things to note The studio features yoga props that you are welcome to use during your stay if you have yoga experience, a heater and a small deck off the studio. There is a trampoline near the studio, but it is off limits to guests. The studio is located in a suburban backyard and has key code entry for a contact-less check-in. Just 5 mins from beautiful Dudley Beach (with barely a house in sight) and a short walk to the Fernleigh Track and Great North Walk, you won't know you're in a bustling city. It's easy to immerse yourself in nature with so much wilderness right on the doorstep. And if you want to be part of the 'bustle', Merewether Ocean Baths, cafes and restaurants are less than 10 minutes' drive away. Or a few more minutes and you could be enjoying the sensational restaurants, bars and museums on the foreshore at Honeysuckle where the Hunter River meets the ocean, or strolling around the Homegrown Market at the The Station or The Olive Tree Market at Civic Park.
