Description
We are located approximately 45 minutes north of Sault Ste Marie on Lake Superior’s beautiful Batchawana Bay. Wake up and enjoy your morning coffee along with a magnificent sunrise. You will quickly understand why the Group of Seven artists were so inspired by this area. This is an amazing place to view wildlife, hike, bike, swim, fish, explore or simply unwind and relax. The space We are nestled between two provincial parks, Pancake Bay PP (Edmund Fitzgerald Lookout Trail) and Batchawana Bay PP. A short 30-minute drive further north, you can also enjoy the splendor of nature in Lake Superior PP (too many trails, beaches and sites to name them all). With so many hiking trails and beautiful sand beaches close by, you may struggle with where to start and how long to stay! There are seasonal restaurants, general store, LCBO and fuel nearby (5-10 minutes). The kitchen is ready for you to do your own food preparation. We suggest that you stop to pick up your groceries and supplies in either Sault Ste. Marie or Wawa as local selection may be limited. Our guests will have shared access to the grounds and outdoor amenities and activities including: picnic table, seasonal dock and fire pit. You can launch your canoe or kayak from our shore. You will have water access to swim from our beach (unsupervised and water shoes are recommended). Bikes, canoe and kayaks are not included in the Airbnb rental but there are local outfitters who specialize in these rentals and excursions. Unlimited highspeed Wi-Fi is provided. Video streaming is possible to your personal device or bring a device (Apple TV, Roku, etc.) to connect to the TV display. Sorry, we do not have cable or satellite TV but we do have an amazing star filled night sky and if weather is favourable, maybe even some northern lights to entertain you. We are bicycle friendly and as avid outdoor enthusiasts and cyclists ourselves, we can help to connect you with an abundance of trails for Mountain bikes, Road bikes or Fat bikes. Other things to note due to Covid 19 restrictions, please bring your own: facial tissues, personal toiletries (hand soap and dish soap provided), coffee/tea, sugar, creamer, spices and all food and beverage items. Other things to note Winter Bookings - November - March. Winter in the area can present challenges with lots of snow and cold temperatures, but it also presents opportunities to explore other activities (weather permitting). There are local snowshoe trails and cross country skiing available at Stokely Creek Lodge approximately 30 minutes away and Down Hill Skiing at Searchmont approximately 50 minutes away. Depending on the season, Ice Caves are also only a short drive away (usually in February/March). We are also in the heart of great snowmobile country. Note: Most local businesses are closed at this time of the year. Winter 2024 - After the busy summer season, we will be opening up available dates one month in advance during the winter season. If you are looking for specific dates, please feel free to message us.
