Description
The Cottage, Fairings, was originally built as a farm building in the 17th century. It is a self contained cottage with exposed beams, a comfortable sitting/dining room with open access to the fully equipped kitchen storing everything needed to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Yetminster has a village shop, Old School Gallery cafe and The White Hart, a 16th century free house (serves food) all within a few minutes walk from the cottage. There are superb country walks from the doorstep. The space The Cottage offers a comfortable and inviting space for couples, friends or couples with young children. Sleeps 2 adults (plus 2 children). On the ground floor you will find a comfortable sitting/dining room which opens into a well equipped kitchen. The staircase leads to the spacious first floor family room with king size bed, day bed and an additional single bed if needed. There is a large bathroom with a roll top bath and a separate shower. A variety of breakfast ingredients are left ready for your stay. Guests are welcome to enjoy the owners' attractive gardens, with extensive and well stocked planted borders, mature shrubs and trees, with various seating areas. The Cottage has a strictly no smoking policy. Guest access The Cottage is for your sole use, it has its own front door and private patio with garden dining available. Guest access by key box. You will have the cottage to yourself, although we are usually at home next door should you need anything. Other things to note Local interest. The charming town of Sherborne with its beautiful honey-coloured buildings brimming with history and heritage is 6 miles away. Sherborne has many places of interest including a magnificent Abbey, Sherborne Castle and Gardens, (built for Sir Walter Raleigh) a ruined castle, independent shops, museum, galleries, antique shops and many cafes, pubs and restaurants. Yeovil is also 6 miles away, has Ninesprings Country Park, Tintinhull Garden, Montacute House and Gardens and The Octogan Theatre to offer. The Jurassic Coast is approximately 30-45 minutes drive away for coastal walks and beaches, including Abbotsbury, Bridport, Weymouth, West Bexington, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door & Lyme Regis. There are National Trust places including: Lytes Cary Manor, the Cerne Giant, Stourhead, Hardy’s Cottage, plus Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, The Newt at Bruton and many more interesting places to explore. Yetminster has a request stop train station where trains will take you down to the coast at Weymouth or up to Bristol.
