A-Frame Country Cabin
Description
A-frame cabin is situated on a 5-acre rural property just beyond the city limits - it is a detached mother-in-law suite, located 200 ft from our main residence. The cabin includes a loft w/a queen-sized bed, a single pullout couch, & a mini kitchen. It faces eastward, away from the mountains. Ideal for those seeking a peaceful countryside retreat, note that access to the bedroom is via a spiral staircase, and the property is serviced by well water. Owner maintained & operated. The space (If you read this far, GREAT! Note to everyone, we only open cabin dates availability 30 days in advance. As a busy family, this gives us flexibility to work the cabin part time.) This cabin was started in the late 60’s and finished in 1972. We have done a bit of remodeling to it - the bathtub is original and still very much an old 70’s Harvest Gold bathtub with a few blemishes on the bottom. There is a Queen bedroom upstairs (brand new tempur-pedic mattress) in the loft, if you do not wish to use the spiral staircase you are more than welcome to use the single sized pullout couch downstairs. Because this is a TINY home A-Frame, we are only accepting 2 guests per reservation at this time. Our goal when renovating this cabin was to keep some of the original elements that are unique to it (OLD bathtub, OLD farmhouse sink) this cabin has not been HGTV renovated. The bathroom IS OLD- - You are booking with the understanding that the bathroom is old. We are serviced by well water, and we provide water bottles for our guests. For your information Air Conditioning is NOT a listed amenity but we DO HAVE a plug in stand alone A/C unit in the upstairs loft area. This is the only location in the cabin with a stand alone A/C unit and does a good job keeping the small space temperate. This cabin does not have the typical heating+A/C controls; detailed instructions on how to use both will be provided with your check in information. The cabin temperature will never read at your normal thermostat reading of 70 degrees, and you are welcome to adjust to your “feel”. A stand up FAN IS PROVIDED- you may move it to where you wish. We have WiFi in the cabin- there is almost no cell phone service at this location and you will have to use Wifi enabled calling for phone calls. It is advised to physically write down the check in code prior to entering our neighborhood in case you cannot pull up the app to check in due to lack of cell service here. We are located a little over 6 miles to King Soopers, 11 minutes to Peterson AFB commissary, 16 minutes to Wal Mart, 23 minutes to Ft Carson, 15 minutes to Schriever. This property is NOT in town, and not very close to restaurants- please take note of this before booking. Pet fee is $40 per stay, maximum 1 dog and no puppies under 16 weeks. Vaccinations required. This property is located in the country outside of city limits on a 5 acre lot near various empty fields. Due to country living, you may encounter a variety of wildlife including; mule deer, foxes, bees, wasps, crickets, moths, mice, skunks, raccoons, spiders, mosquitoes, potential loose neighborhood dogs, birds of prey, coyotes howling in the distance, and various bugs. While we do try our best to mitigate those encounters, please understand that this is country life we cannot control Mother Nature and we will not refund for these encounters. This is a drug free smoke free property. By booking, you are agreeing to bringing NO DRUGS onto our property. There is no outside grill at this property. Due to fire risks, we will not provide outdoor grilling nor allow anything at our property that could cause flames. Fabuloso is our primary cleaning product. If you have sensitivities to this product, please send us a message and we can avoid it as needed by the guests. Please DO NOT FEED THE LIVESTOCK. We have horses, sheep, goats, and chickens and are often outside doing farm chores! Farm fresh eggs may be available depending on the season. Guest access Please do not walk around our personal property, or come up to our main homesite. Guest have access to the inside of the cabin and the fenced in cabin backyard. Other things to note It is HIGHLY recommended that you purchase travel insurance when booking this property. 1) Our neighborhood does not receive any type of snow removal help from the county. Please be aware that winter time can be unpredictable in Colorado and while we don’t typically have big winters storms- if we do get one we do NOT get snow removal on the roads out here. 2) In extreme negative temperatures the cabin will require extra heating maintenance for the water pipes. When booking during the winter months, take this into consideration as the homeowners may need access points into the cabin to maintain water pipe flow. 3) We do not deviate from our cancellation policy due to snow events. 4) Air Conditioner is not a listed amenity in the cabin at this time- we have provided a stand alone A/C unit in the upstairs loft to help with cooling. 5) It hails in Colorado- be aware that we do not have a open garage for you to park a vehicle under. 6) Our property is located at one of the lowest lots in the neighborhood and during extreme rain we experience some flooding and rain washing of the roads. We will always update our guests in case of water related road conditions advisories prior to their stay!
